White Knight Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Well if anyone here is interested theres some medieval fairs that have past or coming to pass later this year. like for example. http://www.medievaltimes.com/ that website has all the things you can know about going to the fair there. its cool. If its your Birthday there you can be knighted and such, or if its like your wedding anniversary or somethinglike that that also qualifies for knighthood at this place, of course its not really a real knighting cermony, but rather think of it as role playing. You get to watch jousting, and have a food and drink served to you hot. with your entertainment preforming. rather its jousting or weapon combat sword to sword, axe to sword, whatever. its all right there. you also get to root for your knight to win, because if your knight wins, you get to see him select a girl from the stage and take her to the throne. to be Wed (Of course this is Role Playing not for real) Here are the Locations in the US. Most are on the East Coast. actually all except two or 3 are on the East Coast. Knights fighting, swords sparking. Knight holding the American Flag LOL The White & Black Knight on Horse. Again theres other stuff to this too.. you dont have to watch the fights and such, you can just eat, relax and talk with your buddy, but then again what would be the fun in that? lol You can go in the gift shops, the weapon stores, etc etc, you can even be put in the dungeon if the king wants ya there. (Warning dont eat with a fork while in the Chambers, its not apart of the times, and its a strict rule you get thrown in jail for that lol. then let out when its all said and done.) Again heres the Link. http://www.medievaltimes.com/ I hope you all enjoy this. God Bless You, & Pax Christi.

homeschoolmom Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 We have a renaissance festival in the fall. It's kind of expensive though. One of these years I'll take the kids, but not yet.
Paladin D Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Aaron, is this the one you go to every now and then?
White Knight Posted July 16, 2005 Author Posted July 16, 2005 (edited) No this is the one I went to right after my Birthday in 2001, September 8th, 2001 I remember it so well because it happened before 9/11 which was only 3 days later. The one I go to every now and then is in April, its Free to get in and your can rome around it more. watch the human Chess match, watch people duel and sing, look at weapons.... eat excellent turkey legs and alot more food. Plus you can actually buy stuff for more of a reasonable price... From what I looked at this place is expensive, nearly costs 50 bucks just to get in. Edited July 16, 2005 by White Knight

Of course, the only way to read and study up on real sword fighting combat, is to take Fencing, Kendo, Some Martial Arts, Read books, Observation from Master Swordsmen and a few others. Most Sword Fighting people see are hollywood type styles. Real sword Fighting is like dancing and a life or death chess match battle.
Old_Joe Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Surely you jest. I've been to a couple of those. once they had a guy pulling a wooden cart around with a skeleton on it, yelling "bring out your dead!" I tried doing the scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail with him. Alas, it did not fare very well.
White Knight Posted July 17, 2005 Author Posted July 17, 2005 Old_Joe:How long ago was that? last time I went here was for my late Birthday in 2001 and I dont remember anything like that. Anyone else going this year or later next year?
Dreamweaver Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 I went to the Schaumburg, Ill. Medieval Times a long time ago... Very fun event. I'd like to see how the knights train and learn swordfighting and other things. It'd be a fun job. Heh, they work the "knight" shift!
little_angel202 Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 i went to a medival fayre today - but i'm sooo sunburnt as it was all outsde and i forgot the suncream! but it was really good i took lots of photos but my lil bro somehow deleted them all  there was a jousting tournament, music and entertainement etc. all good fun

I remember it being in the council bluffs, IA area. I went to a better one in Minnesota, but that was at least 10 years ago.
