rocks n texas Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 (edited) anyone like Slayer? they're one of my favorite bands and i was just wondering if anyone listens to them. Edited July 18, 2005 by rocks n texas
Fixxxer Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 slayer is a awesome band, i saw them live with bls and priest last summer (not ozzfest) . they are like 20 years old
DemonSlayer Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I haven't heard much of them, but I don't normally listen to really anti-Christian bands. But I do like Mastodon, Unearth, Killswitch Engage, The Agony Scene and All That Remains.
Socrates Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Don't listen to them, but I've heard (from someone who used to listen to them) that they're Satanic. I read in interview with those guys where they profess atheism and hatred for the idea of God. I personally wouldn't listen to anybody so vehemently and balatantly anti-religious. Just my 2 cents.
White Knight Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 (edited) It depends... I can easyly see how they can be acused of being anti-religious or even satanic.. but you'll only find this out by what they do, what they say, and what they believe.. a Biography would be nice on the Bands History, and what they believe and such would be nice to know. without this I refuse to lsiten to them. DemonSlayer Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 You find out through their lyrics. Their last album was called "God Hates Us All", but unusually they have a presumably pro-life song.
SevenSorrows Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 I have a rule, I don' listen to any rockin' music written by 40+ year olds. But then one could argue that once you are 40 you can no longer rock (ex. Metallica). hahahahaa
Fixxxer Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 (edited) over 40 or not they still will make better music then any catholic band will ever make hahahahaha TALLICA 4 LIFE! Edited July 20, 2005 by Fixxxer
Cathurian Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Ever read the lyrics to the stuff on Reign in Blood? Not cool. Not remotely cool at all.
Fixxxer Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 its all bad lyrics, but i cant really even understand them when singing this is why i listen to bls and metallica more because their lyrics are not as bad
Oik Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 I think Slayer just likes to shock. I used to be really into hard music (punk, hardcore, death metal, speed metal, speed punk, thrash). I can't really listen to it really. To tell you the truth, I really only listen to any kind of rock, hard or not, on road trips or while in the car and bored. I wished there was EWTN on the radio (or catholic radio), but i guess i'll have to get sirius for that.

man....you have alot of balls considering you are on a CATHOLIC MUSICIAN message board/website.
Fixxxer Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 yes i am well aware that his is a catholic board. it toook me awhile so i wouldnt say such a harsh comment Slayer is 20-25 years old Bls = Black label Society Judas Priest - better than seven sorrows will ever be
Dreamweaver Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Gah, I could never really stand Slayer. Don't know why. Maybe its because they try to hard to be shocking? They should have retired 10 years ago if you ask me. How can you say that people over 40 can't rock? The Rolling Stones.
