Guest EENS Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Did the Council of Trent allow the reception of communion under both species? if so why did this not happen until after Vatican II?
Pio Nono Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 JMJ 7/18 - Sixteenth Monday EENS, I don't know about the Council of Trent, but I know that reception of communion under both kinds has always been a very prevalent custom of all the Churches. However, the popular heresy of Jan Huss (that every Christian had to receive both species in order to have received the Eucharist) made it pastorally inadvisable to allow reception under both species in the West for a number of years. Hope this helps. Yours, Pio Nono
