one has a bishop's mitre on the top instead of the traditional tiara-that's the difference

look at the mitre though-it retains the three tiers that are also shown in the other one-just an observation

yeah I already explained the diff. to Kateri

anyway, the older version of the Tiara is closer looking to the miter, which is why it'd be a compromise, but it's still got more of the same basic shape as the tiara and also the gold parts make it still somewhat of a crown.

apparently there is a possibility that the official coat of arms for history's sake still has the tiara, but that the mitre is a personal preference of benedict not for the most official of documents... interesting... time will tell. but apparently there have already been documents out that include the tiara

I like the triregno (tiara). I was not surprised that he didn't wear it (maybe saddened, but I understood), but I wouldn't have been surprised had he worn it either. I woulda be delighted though.

Also, he uses the royal "we" and actually uses the triregno at the end of some documents.

yeah, I don't think anyone expected him to wear the tiara. but dropping it from the coat of arms was unexpected and I'm glad to see that that may not be the final official call... just some loopy artist innovation
