thessalonian Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 So worried about separation of Church and state that they are proposing that the Catholic Church be regulated. http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2005/jul/05071906.html
kateri05 Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 what an idiot! that defeats the purpose of HAVING A religion if the state is just going to tell you how to run it :nonono: back to ancient Rome Canadians will go
reelguy227 Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Boy ,Canada is turning into a dictatorship that is liberal for everyone except Christian . God help the people of Canada !! Whatever happend the liberals great rule of seperation of Church of State ,this destory that because it lets the state dictate the Church ,when they get all pissed off when religion comes into politics ,go figure !!
thessalonian Posted July 21, 2005 Author Posted July 21, 2005 I just finished the Pope's book. Truth and Tolerance where he explains extensively what he means by "Dictatorship of Relativism.". He hits the nail right on the head with what is going on in canada and the rest of the world. It's down right scarey.
reelguy227 Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 At least we have conservatives in office ,who will halt any of this kind of carp in the U.S. It will never happen here,or at least not in my life time ,there are to many conservatives fighting for their rights for it to happen.
Paladin D Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Holy carp on burnt multigrain toast... The Pope should take over the Galactic Senate and rule the galaxy (only, he'll be the good guy).

Fidei Defensor Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005
"They will never achieve unity so why not try for compatibility? Can't religious leaders agree to adjust doctrine so all religions can operate within the code?"
...
MilesChristi Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Governments have been trying to manhandle the Church for 2000 years. No amount of persecution or bullying changes or bends our doctrines. Ultimately, governments and empires fall and fade away, and it is the Church which remains standing, as she shall until the end of the world.
Paladin D Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005
...
By that logic, does that mean we should adjust our national policies so they agree more with communistic ones? <--- love that smilie LOL!
avemaria40 Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 if they're so concerned about separation of church and state, they would let ppl practice religion as they pleased :realmad:
geetarplayer Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Just answer me this, Canada. How does the State controlling the Church allow for a better seperation of Church and State? Sounds to me like a step backwards for seperation of Church and State. -Mark
Didacus Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 I had a heated (well, somewhat heated discussion) with my three older sisters on this just 3 weeks ago. One of the points I had brougt forth was that it would soon become illegal for the church to publicly teach its doctrine. the youngest of my sisteres (a lawyer go figure) said this would be legally impossibe. Let's have a look shall we?
former professor Bob Ferguson has called for "legislation to regulate the practice of religion."
Regulations is a form of control that will be used to 'prevent' the 'hate speech' of the church. Not directly illegal of course - not yet.
"Given the inertia of the Catholic Church, perhaps we could encourage reform by changing the environment in which all religions operate,
'encourage' reform... translation: 'force' reform... hope everyone sees this clearly now....
Can't religious leaders agree to adjust doctrine so all religions can operate within the code?"
The goverment would force the church to 'adjust' its doctrine to fit a neat little mold? (oops, sorry, I think they mean to 'encourage')
Yes religion can be a comfort and a guide, but we cannot take rules from our holy books and apply them to the modern world without democratic debate and due regard for the law."
No comment on this one, its just too obviously f***ed up. I said it before, and I'll say it again. Expect things to get far worse before they get any better! What really ticks me off with idiots of this magnitude is that you would be stunned at how many people will believe them or jump on their bandwagon to advance their own agenda. Stupid, ridiculous, idiotic as it may seem, this kind of article is propaganda and extremely dangerous. JP the Great pray for us, keep Benedict XVI and our church strong against this growing tide.

They just approved of gay marriage. The whole government is off the deep end up there.
