How would one say "Saint of God".. Sancte Dei?

If you're referring to the saint, "sanctus/sancta Dei"

If you're speaking to the saint, "sancte/sancta Dei"

Wouldn't it need to be genitive plural to make it "God's Saint" i.e. Deum?

Posted

why? God is singular so it is genitive singular

Its like Agnus Dei, so unless the church has been wrong all these years...

Posted (edited)

besides, isn't the plural genetive deorum, not deum, which would be singular accusative?

I thought it was Deum like as "Deo de Deum.."

Not that i'm looking for an argument, my schooloby latin is rather tardy...

"Latin is a language,
dead as dead can be.
It killed the ancient Romans,

--and now it's killing me"

You're thinking of "Deum de Deo"...Deo de Deum makes no sense in Latin.
