Maccabeus Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 With all respect etc, I know this is a multi-christian mainly Catholic dominated board, But I have a Sensitive question... So please have patience with me etc... :shades: Ok, If we are the Body of Christ, and the body is "ONE" (the Catholic Church being the first and original Church) and (since there is ONE body) So when in the past there were rebelious groups etc, and Denominations were created etc (It makes me think they no longer belong to the ONE body of Christ) as it appears, So does that mean their going to Hell? since they are no longer part of the ONE body of christ. But than again they also Worship Jesus, so are they still saved? :shades:
Laudate_Dominum Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 the simplest answer I can think of (since this is a complicated issue) is to point at that non-Catholic Christians who have a valid baptism are considered part of the Church even if they don't think so. The Church recognizes the validity of the baptism of 'seperated brethren'. So they are part of the Body of Christ. But this does not mean full communion with the Catholic Church is not important. They are still deprived of the benefits of a complete sacramental life and the various other things Christ gave His Church to help bring his flock to salvation and holiness.
