curtins Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 greets: I was in New York City today and to my surprise saw many young women (late teens through early 30's) wearing below knee length skirts. Now this really surprised me cause it wasnt like one or two gals but ALOT of people. I was pleasently surprised to see alot more modesty and really makes you appreciate beauty ALOT more. I guess the hoochy skirt is just for unfashionable middle school and high school girls now .gif' /> .gif' /> .gif' /> .gif' />
Luthien Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 I noticed that too. I like modest clothing, there is more focus on a persons attitude than their body.
reelguy227 Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Sweet ,God is coming back into society ,woo hoo !!!
roseograce Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 I've noticed that too! And that long shorts are also coming back into style as well.
jezic Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 um people why do you care what style is ? maybe being from nd mostly eliminates that, but who cares? I don't care if my clothes match much less if they were in style. wow.... i am strange.... and loving it.
curtins Posted July 22, 2005 Author Posted July 22, 2005 I dont care really about whats "in" or hip in the clothing world either but considering latly its been the more skin you show the better in the fashion world- this is great and didnt Mary say at Fatima was it? that some fashions will be very offensive to her?
Kaeldra Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Um we probably care because its a lot easier to FIND modest clothes if they're in style I noticed a while ago that more modest styles are coming "in" more. Its nice.
Guest Eremite Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Funny you mention this, because I just read an article today in the Boston Globe about how covering up is suddenly "in".
immaculata Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 I've noticed a LOT of long "bohemian" skirts coming into style... it's AWESOME. I'm stocking up.
Honour Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 hem lines go up....hem lines come down Its the never ending cycle of fashion...sad to say but I think it has nothing to do with modesty.
zabbazooey Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 I'm just glad 10 year olds don't show off their whole upper thigh much nowadays!!
immaculata Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 I don't give a care when the boho skirts go out of style, I'm still gonna wear them.

What Mary said at Fatima is that the majority of people who go to Hell go because of "sins of the flesh." She stated that some fashions ARE OFFENSIVE TO GOD. The question is simple, WHO ARE WE DRESSING TO PLEASE?

curtins Posted July 22, 2005 Author Posted July 22, 2005
I'm just glad 10 year olds don't show off their whole upper thigh much nowadays!!
That may not be so true- If you recall, I said hoochy skirts are now for unfashionable middle school and high school girls. and maybe even some 5th graders. 2 instances in my school: 1- picture retake day- this 5th grader had on a skirt that was too short for her especailly being a 5th grader but that wasnt as bad as 2- I saw this girl who goes to my (now former) school. She was with her 10th grade sister and her 9th grade cousin. Again this girl was also a 5th grader. Her skirt was shorter than her 10th grade sister's skirt and was WAY too short for anyone especially a 5th grader. You know I guess im used to seeing every other flippin teenage girl wearing a hoochy skirt but it REALLY saddens me when I see a 5th grader with one. Personally though, and I may be wrong, I think teenage girls will keep wearing hoochy skirts cause they are unfashionable and at the end of the day, why does one wear a hoochy skirt? To get attention from guys. and thats why they'll keep wearing them. It doesnt matter if some hot shot celebrity fashion gooroo that they adore comes to they're front door and says wear this longer skirt- They wont do it. We'll maybe if the fashion lady does come to their door but you get my point.

It probably just is fashion ,this is the sex generation ,who ever thought tthat they would want to be modest for some other reason other than God ???

ForHimAlone Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Yeah, there's been a lot of newspaper articles out recently talking about modesty coming back into style. I did a persuasive speech on this very subject, actually - the importance of modest dress for women. It's very encouraging, but I'm sure this is only part of the ever-changing fashion cycles.
