Guest :: Carson Weber :: Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 They're two religious orders together: First, there's the Servants of the Holy Family: http://www.servi.org Then there's the Carmelite Monastery of the Sacred Hearts: http://www.sistersofcarmel.org
Laudate_Dominum Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 I'm not sure, but the pictures are giving me a vocation crisis. Oh, and I've gone ahead and emailed the community asking flat out where they stand with the Church and on certain key traditionalist issues. If I get a response I will share the results. And if the response is favourable, I might be setting up a come and see weekend! hehe j/k Regards
Laudate_Dominum Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 A priest from this community responded to my email but said he would rather discuss my questions over the phone. Basically I interpret this insistence as something "phishy".
Carson Weber Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Do it. Talk with him over the phone. Please! I have a friend who is planning on entering this convent in October. She's a Steubenville graduate, and she's read a lot of not-so-great ultra-traditionalist literature, and I'm worried about her. Please let me know what you find out.
Carson Weber Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Well, it seems my suspicion turns out to be true. Check this out: http://www.diocs.org/Q&A/answers.cfm?question=49servants Servants of the Holy Family in Black Forest, Colorado Question from Dan on 24 March 2005: Can you tell me the status of the chapel in Black Forest, run by the Servants of the Holy Family order, are they in union with Rome and the Diocese of Colorado Springs? Answer by Peter J. Howard, S.T.L. on 24 March 2005: Thank you for your question, Dan. The Servants of the Holy Family are a schismatic community. They are schismatic because their founder, Fr. Anthony Ward is acting without the necessary canonical faculties of the Diocese of Colorado Springs. Hence, he is acting outside of communion with the Holy See in Rome. Since Fr. Ward and the priests of the Servants of the Holy Family do not possess canonical faculties to execute the sacraments publicly in this diocese, all sacramental absolutions and attempted marriages witnessed by them are invalid. God bless you. Copyright 2005 Diocese of Colorado Springs
