Ash Wednesday Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 I usually am not one to broadcast about a particular movie, but Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was awesome! I always thought I'd never believe a movie could match an original I've loved for so many years (I still love Gene Wilder) -- but this movie kicked my butt! Especially the Oompa Loompas. P.S. "Don't touch that squirrel's nuts!"
Laudate_Dominum Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 I haven't seen it yet.. for some reason I'm just not feelin it.
Laudate_Dominum Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005
Turd burglar! :
LOL this is what's cool:
Ash Wednesday Posted July 23, 2005 Author Posted July 23, 2005 It's all good. I was hesitant to be interested since I loved the original as a kid. But I'm kind of a sucker for Johnny Depp and Tim Burton's wicked/goth/candystripes/sweet style. I was really impressed with Sith. That was the best of the new Star Wars batch definitely
Ash Wednesday Posted July 23, 2005 Author Posted July 23, 2005 Except I missed the part where Obi Wan gives Anakin a wedgie
jmjtina Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 (edited) I finally saw Batman Begins tonight. Christian Bale is sooooooooo dreamy...... Tommorrow Flowery and I go see Willy Wonka. Edited July 23, 2005 by jmjtina
Apotheoun Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 I saw "Batman Begins" and I liked it, but I doubt I'll see "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," because the previews and the commercials don't interest me.
Cam42 Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 It is the scariest movie of the year. If you have a love of Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, you will be "suprised." They are nothing alike. This is not a light hearted children's story....It is a typical Tim Burton movie. I would say that he has more or less made it a live action version of his stop action movies. It would have been better served to be stop action. Absolutely one of the best horror movies of the year.
ofpheritup Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 I would love to see that movie but I have one little problem with it and his name is Johnny Depp. When the war started in Iraq he was very critical of America's participation in the war. I am not going to spend my money supporting someone who is critical of my country. I have other things I could use the money for. And it is a shame because I remember him from 21 Jump Street, I think he is a great actor. There have been and will be other movies I will not see because of him. Money is power, you vote with it, when you do or do not spend it, and where.
Luthien Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 The Pope was critical of the US going into the war as well. He supported getting the job done after we went in and got too involved to just pull out of Iraq. That said, Im going to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, my Dad said it was good, and I trust my Daddys judgement.

I wasn't aware the Pope was an American citizen. I don't see that American money should go "to pay Mr. Depps bills" if he can't support the people that are providing a roof over his head. Oh sorry, he doesn't live in America. That is something else that bothers me, our country isn't good enough to live in. Whatever, my dime my time. I am VERY selective about where I spend my money. homeschoolmom Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Do you boycott all movies that have actors critical of American foreign policy?

homeschoolmom Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 At least he's not like all those other hollywood people who complained about our foreign policy and threatened to leave the country if Bush were elected in 2000.... (Alec Baldwin comes to mind here...) I think Depp has lived in France for a long time... But so have other actors. So what?
