the_rev Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 I just got to thinking how my e-newsletter hasn't done an issue lately so I am going to compile one with the top ten sants in the Catholic Church, please exclude the Blessed Mother. So who do you think are the top ten saints in the Catholic Church? If you would like to do a biography of one of the saints please send me a private message, (less work I have to do,help a brother out!) Yours in Christ, Eddie Lee
zabbazooey Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 In no particular order... 10. Blessed Mother Theresa 9. St. Benedict 8. St. Clare 7. St. Augustine 6. St. Bernadette 5. St. Francis 4. St. Ignatius 3. St. Faustina 2. St. Therese 1. St. Simon Stock
Laudate_Dominum Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 Our Lady is in a category of her own, obviously. That said, I might answer thus: 1. St. Joseph 2. St. John the Baptist 3. St. John the Beloved 4. Sts. Peter and St. Paul (I know, I'm cheating) 5. St. Mary Magdalen 6. St. Francis of Assisi 7. St. Clare 8. St. Therese of Liseux 9. St. Benedict 10. St. Seraphim 11. St. Catherine of Siena 12. St Mark the Wrestler 13. St. Teresa of Avila 14. St. Bonaventure 15. St. Maximos 16. St. Anthony of the Desert 17. St. Pio of Pietrelcina 18. St. Anthony of Padua 19. St. Maria Madalena de Pazzi 20. St. Lydwina of Schiedam
the_rev Posted July 24, 2005 Author Posted July 24, 2005 What that's a good list, well we have our list guys and girls, accept we're taking St. Clare out and putting in St. Norbert as I may enter the norbertines. If you'd like to write a bio make it easy on me pleaes private message me. Your bio should be no more than a page in a word doc single space. Yours in Christ, Eddie Lee
zabbazooey Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 I'm newer to the Catholic faith, so I still need to learn about more saints.
Fides_et_Ratio Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 It runs thusly: 1) Blessed Mother 2) St. Joseph 3) all the other Saints. (my personal 3rd is probably St. John of the Cross)
Apotheoun Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 Number one is easy to determine: The Holy Theotokos
qfnol31 Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 1) Theotokos 2) St. Joseph 3) St. Peter \ . . . . > Pillars of the Church 4) St. Paul / 5) St. John 6) St. Thomas 7) St. Francis 8) Pope St. Gregory the Great 9) St. Benedict 10)St. Augustine I've chosen these not because they are my favorites, but because they have done the most for the Church.
Laudate_Dominum Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 I honestly think that there are a slew of hidden saints that have done unimaginable good for the Church through prayer, suffering and sacrifice who will be among the greatest in heaven. It is usually the merits of a humble, hidden soul that give the Church it's Augustines and Ignatius Loyolas.

Nathan Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 I don't know about my whole top-ten, but the Blessed Mother, St. Peter, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Augustine of Hippo, and St. Ignatius Loyola are musts.
MilesChristi Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 The Blessed Virgin, of course, has a special spot far above any of the other saints. That said, here are ten I would consider very important to the Church... St. Joseph St. Peter St. Paul St. John the Evangelist St. John the Baptist St. Benedict St. John Chrysostom St. Augustine St. Thomas Aquinas St. Francis It's tough to pick just ten. I feel like I'm leaving out so much.
