I went to the bank today and opened a checking account. Its free because I am in the 55 or older group. Hehe. Well, my dad is so its free for me too. And that was all cool. I feel richer now that I have 400 dollars in a checking account (nevermind that that money was in my savings before). Plus I feel older. I mean, I have a check book AND a debit card!!! Woot!

But thats not the best part. We got a free gift for opening an account and we had a choice between this backpack chair thing or a smoothie maker. A SMOOTHIE MAKER!!! I am so excited, what could be a cool free gift then a smoothie maker. And you could make it as cheesy as you want, just add a bit of chedder or anyother type and some ice and volia, really nasty dairy/water product!! Think of all the uses of a smoothie maker. Doesn't it just sound very dormroomish to you?

It reminds me of this guy  and when I see someone with out a smoothie maker now I can go :P: Hehe.

I remember my free gift.. It was a tote bag. :(

I also remember that the first place I wrote a check to was the florist for a bouquet to take to a graduation open house. :)

We have one too, along with a myriad of other kitchen appliances (and for a woman who hates to cook!)... But I never got one for free for opening a checking account.

In fact, my free gifts include:
a glass bear (that looks like a gummy bear)
the aformentioned tote bag
a set of drinking glasses (that fell of the moving truck... Nice job, HSdad)
and a Rubbermaid storage container...

TCF is not the best gift giver in the world...

hehe... I meant from the bank. And aren't all gifts, by definition "free"?

heavens no. Some gifts are very costly indeed.

Yeah, my bank didn't give me anything.

I feel cheated. :sadwalk:

Strawberry lemon sounds really good. I might have to try that.

My free gift could be costly because I had to hand over 400 dollars and all. I mean, I can't spend it for a least a few days, until I get my debit card. The checks after over 300 so thats cool but I am too lazy to write in my name and all that.

for a minute there I thought that it was something P&P...Plush toys or trading cards.... :P

Ah, I didn't get a free gift for opening my checking account either.... The smoothie maker sounds like fun. I have a blender/smoothie/food processor dealie my mom got me, and I really haven't used it much except to make chocolate shakes.

I think you should try making a sirloin smoothie.
