ok, looking back at my deluded infatuation with rob zombie music (the music, not the lyrics), i cant believe i didnt see that ghastly mistake for a human for what he was. i remember jus drinking in his music w/o thinking about it or else trying to ignore the bad messages. yet it didnt quite hit me untill i heard about a movie that just came out that was directed by him. my brother jus told me he went to see the movie "the Devil's Rejects". now my brother is about half-way catholic in terms of his faith, but he told me it was "the most unholy movie I'd ever seen". he said the basic "plot" (if u can call it that) is that there is this family that goes around killing people jus for the fun of it. its not even jus that though, the try to do it in the most sadistic and cruel ways possible. Almighty God have tremendous mercy upon the decomposed soul of Rob Zombie, and please let not the terrible influence of Satan through him bring anymore souls from the embrace of Your Blessed Trinity. Angels of God on high, be ever vigilant in protecting the people of God from destruction by evil. Amen. :sign:

i know some people who like his work - music, ok ...he has some talent (not carp for content though) but the movies... i dont understand the draw

I wouldn't be suprised if Rob Zombie is demonically possessed, with his obsession with Satanicism, disgusting depictions of gore and violence, and all. Just take a look at his official website, it's suprising what you'll see on there...

I'm not really a fan -- I don't think he's that good -- but I don't have a problem Rob Zombie. He's just an old-school horror movie fan who's showing off his influences -- namely 70's classics like Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Wes Craven's The Hills Have Eyes. His films (and music) can be quite nasty and disturbing, but in the end it's all in good fun. I don't think he takes it all that seriously.

Calling the man "demonically possessed" is pretty closed-minded. I bet you're one of those people who think all horror films are from the Devil.

Never liked him.

On a related note, it's a shame that some devout Catholic teens practice their faith yet fall into the media/music carp so easily.

Don't know the guy... how would he compare to Marylin Manson?

It would appear to me that Marilyn Manson is faking his image for marketing. I get the feeling that Rob Zombie would be this way if he was famous or not

I think just the opposite. I have a few of his cds and, in my opinion, they're pretty tame compared to what I've listened to of Manson. I think Zombie (who is close to my age) likes those old cult horror films. When those came out in the 70s they were extremely shocking. Now, he's trying to shock the masses of today. With today's culture being desensitized vs. the 70s culture, you have to find new ways to shock.

Just my 2 cents.

You totally could be right Rob!

But as far as Manson goes, I think he's a complete fake. I think he's a Trent Reznor wanna be. I don't think art or satan is his motivation, just greed.

again I have nothing to base it on but the gut feeling I get when I hear his music.

BTW While I'm not a supporter of Reznor either, I think he is an absolute genius!! I also think he's a guy desperately in need of a hug!

I enjoy the non-thrashing type of horror/creepy films. So making the claim that all horror films are demonic would be rather hypocritical of me. However, I do believe some horror flicks can change the mood and have the potential to open up a gateway for something to come in.

Fr. Corapi has some interesting sermons when it comes to spiritual warfare, and how modern Christianity is falling into the trap of society's modern rational thinking on the subject. Fr. John Corapi himself has encountered Catholics who claimed such things as demons, demonic possession, and etc., as mere "superstition" (though of course we have to be aware not to fall into this trap). Many Catholics today think the whole world of Satan and demons is "out there", while in reality they're "right here". They aren't part of some mystical fairy tale, or an occurrence that only happens to unlucky individuals in some third-world country. Their are people who are in bondage to addictions, and these addictions can at times be fueled by evil spirits. The leading exorcist in the Catholic Church (can't remember his name) also agrees with many points Fr. Corapi has brought up. This leading exorcist regrettably claims that demonic oppression and possession are becoming more common, and that more people are not aware of it.

Take note that I'm not claiming people who are into horror flicks, or those who are into the more darkish forms of art, are "evil". But where is the limit? What is the point to when it starts to become too much? Do you believe that in some way or form, this can lead into something demonic? Rob Zombie is also into Satanism if I'm correct, and I don't find it a concidence that he's also into this saddistic carp.

Is the "Devils Rejects" a satanic movie? I thought it was just going to be a really creepy movie. It seems no worse than Tx Chainsaw.

It is suppoosed to have some graphic torture scenes in it. Supposedly very sadistic. I think the NCCBUSCC has a review of it.

The Devil's Rejects
Perverse horror sequel to "House of 1000 Corpses" which follows the bloody trail of the homicidal Firefly clan (Sid Haig, Bill Moseley and Sheri Moon Zombie), as they flee the vigilante justice of a relentless sheriff (William Forsythe) determined to avenge his brother's murder. Laced with visual nods to Arthur Penn, Sam Peckinpah and Tobe Hopper, writer-director Rob Zombie's almost pornographically violent follow-up is as pointless as it is utterly revolting, sinking to nauseating lows in presenting depravity as entertainment. Pervasive dehumanizing violence, including grisly killings and mutilations and torture; sadistic sexual situations, including violation with a gun; a soft-core sexual encounter with partial nudity; full frontal shower nudity; drug content; themes of revenge; and much rough and crude language and profanity. O -- morally offensive. ® 2005

America has a disturbing infatuation with violence, language, and sexuality. It seems that no form of intertainment can be sucessful without being smothered in those three ingredients. When will directors learn that you don't "need" all of these things to have an exceptional film

Lord of the Rings was a tremendous sucess, and the violence wasn't all that grisley. I honestly don't care for "The Devil's Rejects", because I want a half decent plot line whenever I view a movie.

I watched the first movie, House of a Thousand Corpses, it was a bad knock-off of Texas chainsaw Massacre.

House of a Thousand Corpses was one of the strangest films I have ever seen in my life-it was just plain weird.

I saw the trailer for the new one and at the end it said it was the most brutal film you would ever watch. Sure that's gonna make me want to see it....
