kateri05 Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 what are you people talking about?! the LA diocese is so wacked out... the family conference is the ONLY cool thing, trust me. and the beach. but i'd trade ocean breezes for orthodoxy any day!
mariahLVzJP2 Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 I'm kinda new to this site...i went to the Catholic Family Conference and it was awesome! We talked to Tim and Valerie Staples, and they were great All the speakers were so rad. I especially liked the panel of speakers on saturday night. im sad i missed that incredible talk on the eucharist though. it was so hard choosing whose talk to attend but it was so much fun! i wish i knew more of you all though...just to meet more Catholics
kateri05 Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 (edited) hey what did the panel talk about? i thought about trying to talk the hubbie into going but they had no topic so it was a hard sell : and i would die to meet more catholics, where ya from? and welcome! Edited July 27, 2005 by kateri05
Philippe Posted July 27, 2005 Author Posted July 27, 2005 i couldnt go to the panel because my parents had to go to a birthday party I went last year though... it was aight
mariahLVzJP2 Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Hi Kateri05, thanks for that little welcome the panel talked about a variety of topics including, unbaptized babies and them being saved, the idea of limbo, and body piercings and tatoos. I can't really remember the other topics, but the discussion of these went on for a good while each. I am from the Diocese of Orange. I live in OC, cali. And I go to St. Justin Martyr Church. sadly, there was a fire at my church this week, they are suspecting arson. It was $500,000 worth of damage. it sucked.
kateri05 Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 oh wow that IS terrible huh, what an odd vareity of topics. did they take questions or something or were the topics prearranged? and what did they say about unbaptized babies and limbo and whatnot? do you remember?
CD2008 Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 (edited) I actually went to the Catholic Family Conference this year, it was soooooo cool, im goin back next year. Doug Berry of RADIX and his partner Eric Genius gave probably one of the best talks i've ever heard to a group of us teens. All the speakers we awesome and the homilys at saturdayy and sunday mass rocked, especially Fr. Pablo Straub's homily on saturday. Ya if you didnt go, GO NEXT YEAR!!!! -Chris Edited August 1, 2005 by CD2008
doe-jo Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 my gf went there... she said she had fun... she lost her wallet at disneyland tho but the people over there sent it to her.. i guess someone honest found it.. thank God..
mariahLVzJP2 Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 yeah, they just took questions from people at the conference who wrote them out, and they picked several of them and discussed them. i have the worst memory...so i dont remeber exactly what was said about the topic. but i do know that they said we are supposed to pray and could even choose names for aborted babies. that in some sense gives them an identity for us to pray for them personally. they also said that limbo is just an assumption as to where babies go and that it was not really taught. St. Augustine came up with it. i think thats what they said
kateri05 Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 oh good, that was the right answer : lol just checking!
