let_go_let_God Posted July 28, 2005 Author Posted July 28, 2005 Thank you all for your opinions so far. To answer some questions I have taken a philosophy and some theology classes, and I intend to take more as my schedual allows me. My philosophy was entitled Philosophy of the Person, a junior level course. I took it as a freshman based on recomendations from an advisor and people who had taken it earlier. I enjoyed it quite a lot. I am excited to read TOTB, and as you all have been saying it's a great and interesting read, I should also read Love & Responsibility. I will also pick that one up too, and I will suggest that we read L&R first, and then work to TOTB. I'm still interested about more ideas and more books, so keep posting. God bless- LGLG
disturbedxfairy Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 i would like to read theology of the body together with my BF but i tried to read it and i'm too dumb to understand (no really). i've found some other good books though and am making him read them. "not even a hint" is one of them
DancesforLove Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 I think its a great idea, especially because it gives you a person who you are close with and trust to discuss things from the book with and share opinions and what not, its a very good way of bringing each other together religiously and emotionally.

Even the most scholarly of people that I know have said that they can't get it to "sink in." I think it's one of those things where you have to pray to the Holy Spirit for mucho guidance while reading it!!! I suggest you try to find a book ABOUT the Theology of the Body because it is soooo good. Try reading Christopher West's "Theology of the Body for Beginners." Start out small and work your way up to the "big one." Once you get the general gist of it, maybe it'll be easier to handle the Pope's. (At least that's what I keep telling myself!!) ~Jen
let_go_let_God Posted August 2, 2005 Author Posted August 2, 2005
What has your boyfriend read/studied so far?
My boyfriend has taken more Biblical classes than anything. He is quite knowledgeable about the BIble. He just completed RCIA this spring for his Confirmation, and is studying parts of the CCC, other than that, I am not sure about any other schooling in philosophy or theology. God bless- LGLG
qfnol31 Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 (edited) I personally might wait on it, just for his sake...but that's just me. Edited August 2, 2005 by qfnol31
