If ology, is study of, then theo is a prefix for what?

What is a theory? with prefix being theo?

Thought of this they other day on the golf course.

"Theo" is the stem for the Greek word for God, or the Divine.

so then a theory would be that of God or divinity?

No... hmm.. perhaps related to the Greek theoros which means a spectator. (I'm rusty at this stuff).
or likely to English through Latin from the Greek word theoria (related to theoros) which means like.. um.. a spectacle or something you observe.

Look it up in the OED. It will tell you all about the roots.

I had that class, it's considered Philosophy, just so you know. Dr. Healy right?
It is among my favourite Philosophy classes of all time.

There is some Theological content however. When I took it he weaved in the Theology of the Body toward the end of the semester.

well it was listed under the theology masters "pastoral emphasis" electives  so i don't really know. i'm new to this!

but yea, basically its TOTB, but from start to finish. :nerd:

here is the course description:
THE 660 - PI: The Nature of Love, by Dr. Michael Healy, examines the philosophical nature of love. It examines love as a response to value and as a gift; the role of desiring union in love and the intention of seeing the beloved happy, as well as the relationship of love and morality, and caritas. It also treats the role of sexuality in love, emphasizing the contributions in thought by Dietrich von Hildebrand and Karol Wojtyla.

L_D,

my profs at FUS were:
Dr. Hildebrand (loved him)
Dr. Asci (loved him)
Prof. DeMeo (in austria... he was an ITI student, and pretty good)
Dr. Miravalle (pretty good... my only complaint was that he talked about himself and being on TV too much)
Fr. Frinsko (BLECH!)

(off to finish packing for my cruise!)
