abortion question

a girl who i know, but am not close with, recently had an abortion. i wasn't aware of her plans, or of the abortion itself until after she had already gone through with it. my question is, should i make her parents aware of what she's done, in order to prevent a second abortion, or should i stay out of it? i would hate for this tragedy to happen a second time, but i'm not quite sure what the best way of preventing it would be. any help at all would be appreciated, thanks so much!

In my lowly opinion:

This is largely a matter for personal discernment and prudential judgement. I do not know all the particulars of the situation and the persons involved, but if I was in a similar situation I would probably not tell the parents about the abortion (if the person is still quite young and living at home that might weigh in to the decision).
I would rather try to focus on helping the young lady deal and cope with the fact that she had an abortion. She needs to realize what has happened and repent, and then heal from the trauma of having destroyed her child. If you were to tell her parents about what happened you would lose her trust.
And if you can manage to help her through the aftermath of this abortion and help bring her closer to God, you will be preventing a second abortion.

Again, I don't know all the particulars so this option might not be possible.

God bless you.
