St. Catherine Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 I would read them. I just read the first 5 in the past two weeks for the first time. I liked them, they are easy to read and they kept me interested. I started reading them just to see how much different than they were from the movies.

However, they're only ok if you are a relatively happy and content person. Kids who are struggling with depression can see the books as an escape from the reality that is their life (whether at home or at school). Fed on that they want to learn about witchcraft in order to do something to change their situation in life. They want to be Harry Potter, everything is horrible but then we find out that with magic everything can become wonderful. The books have a good message of good vs. evil, but they are dangerous in certain situations.
