I think you made the right decision. In the long run, having surgery now and giving yourself a better chance to dance again I think is the best option. Just relax and kick back. Those 2 months will go by like nothing.

well coming in late is the athletic training major.......from my pov i would get the surgery (sounds like what youre gonna do) its not worth it go ruin your foot for the rest of your life just for one or two performances.......trust me.....i go through this with athletes who are hurt but want to play in the big game all the time.......surgery then FULLY recover then get back into it

trust the doctors man, they know what they are talking about.....thats why they have the degree

But the surgery might also hinder my ability to dance . The fusion will lower the range of motion in my foot .

i thought you said it 'may' limit the range of motion. i think you can get back into it if you work really hard, and put forth the effort to get your foot back to where it needs to be.
it's never fun at all to give something you love up. however, if you don't get the surgery, you may never do it again. and your foot will be messed up, and there are other things you won't be able to do, either. so just do it now, and smell of elderberries up those 2 months. your work ethic seems like it shouldn't be too hard to get back on your feet again -- no pun intended -- very soon.

peace,
chris

dude get the surgery......its not worth it trust me

What im saying is that the bone fusion will decrease my foots range of motion to less than it is now permanently ,thats why Im considering quitting for good ,just hoping that they come up with something better to treat this down the line . Thd doc said that if I wasnt dancing ,he wouldnt recommend I get the fusion ,because once Its fused ,its fused for good.

I'd sure encourage you to get a second medical professional's opinion. The medical field is advancing all the time...There may solutions right around the corner.
Pray, trust, and be open to God's will.
Perhaps He wants to show you that there are other things more important for you to do in life, or maybe you are doing exactly as He desires...
I'd definitely seek out the best orthopedists around and see if there is any other solution, other than fusing the bones. That sounds pretty radical.
But hey, waddo I know? :idontknow: I'm no orthopedist! And when my kids Irish Step Danced, they did it for fun; they were not at all interested in the competitive nature of the art.
Whenever I see young people who've sustained a sport-related injury and are still determined to play without regard to their health, I feel that they're placing too high a priority on the sport, and not caring for the body that God gave them - in which they'll have to live a longggg time! Not being able to dance would, certainly, be a disappointing blow to someone as accomplished as you...but imagine not even being able to walk properly! Having to use a cane, or walking with a limp, or with pain your whole life....
Weigh all your options, give thanks for how far the Lord has brought you, and take good care of yourself, body and soul!
God Bless <><

Thanks Anna .

I was thinking that maybe if I did it solely for His glory ,that He would heal me and therefore enable me to accomplish my goals ,firstly for His glory and secondly for mine . What does everyone think of that ?

As a Physical Therapist in the business of rehab with feet on a regular basis, the best advice I can give you is always, always, always....... GET A SECOND OPINION BEFORE ANY SURGERY!!!! I am not saying the "foot doctor" is not right. Just saying the more opinions that agree regarding something this serious, the better. It also goes without saying, that if you shop long enough you will always find someone to cut you open. I might suggest you seek out an Orthopedic surgeon that specialized in the foot. It sounds like you might be seeing a Podiatrist currently. I am not slandering Podiatrists, just saying that an Orthopedic surgeon might have a different slant on the issue.
