InCircles' brother Posted August 7, 2005 Posted August 7, 2005 you know once i was talking to my spiritual director and i had so many questions about how i could never enter a religious order becuase of my past sins and what not and this is the answer that he gave me... it was amazing... he said "a person does not enter the religious life because he/she is perfect... but because he/she wants to become perfect..."
Laudate_Dominum Posted August 7, 2005 Posted August 7, 2005 That's beautiful. And I agree. There have been saints who started out as terrible sinners. St. Moses the Black for example was an infamous marauder who fled to Egypt to escape capture and was converted by some monks and became a monk himself! He later became a saint and a great miracle worker. Even though he was once a terrible bandit, people travelled far to seek his council in spiritual matters and he often healed people and stuff.
