Cure of Ars Posted August 18, 2005 Author Posted August 18, 2005 Well since we are talking Mary poems here is a couple. This was one of Archbishop Fulton Sheen favorite poems: Lovely Lady Dressed in Blue Lovely Lady dressed in blue ------- Teach me how to pray! God was just your little boy, Tell me what to say! Did you lift Him up, sometimes, Gently on your knee? Did you sing to Him the way Mother does to me? Did you hold His hand at night? Did you ever try Telling stories of the world? O! And did He cry? Do you really think He cares If I tell Him things ------- Little things that happen? And Do the Angels' wings Make a noise? And can He hear Me if I speak low? Does He understand me now? Tell me -------for you know. Lovely Lady dressed in blue ------- Teach me how to pray! God was just your little boy, And you know the way. Mary Dixon Thayer who wrote more than one poem for Our Lady, is the author. And then there is good old Edgar Allan Poe: At morn - at noon - at twilight dim - Maria! thou hast heard my hymn! In joy and woe - in good and ill - Mother of God, be with me still! When the hours flew brightly by, And not a cloud obscured the sky, My soul, lest it should truant be, Thy grace did guide to thine and thee; Now, when storms of Fate o'ercast Darkly my Present and my Past, Let my Future radiant shine With sweet hopes of thee and thine!
