My longest surgery was 14 hours long, to sever my spinal cord in order to stop leg spasms. (I was already paralyzed at the time, with only 15% function, so it's not as horrible as it sounds.)

I just realized that I got my greater than/less than symbols mixed up...

I had a collapsed lung at birth so they had to stick a tube into it while it healed. I don't know how long the procedure took, though. The last time I "went under" was when I was about 18, I had to get all four wisdom teeth out, and they were impacted so I had to get the full surgery. I suppose that took an hour or whatever, but it only felt like 5 minutes. They told me to count to 10 and I went out like a light in mid-sentence -- "wow, I do feel the tingle in the back of my throa" and then made this funny *aghnt!* sound and was gone.

The funniest thing was being woken up and wheeled into a room where they dumped patients off to sleep off the drugs. I saw these people in full clothed attire in beds sleeping and I thought it was the funniest thing I ever saw. It reminded me of the Pink Floyd album cover "Momentary lapse of reason" ...the one with all those beds. I would have laughed but I couldn't feel my face and was too tired to actually laugh. I laughed in my mind, though.

I believe it was 8 hours, which you did not list. However, I am not sure, because it was Open-Heart surgery and after that you don't know which way is up and have absolutely no concept of time. I believe the second one took 6 hrs, but, again, I cannot be sure.

For me, it would be easier to ask me my shortest operation. That would be an hr, and that was a pacemaker surgery.

God Bless

less than an hour... it was mostly a dental thing to attempt to get the huge gap between my front teeth to grow together by cutting out the skin that attaches your lip and gum.

meh a couple of hours for a nasty spider bite. that was like earlier this year.

edit: or actually the one to reconstruct my mouth after that biking accident might have taken a while. i dont know how long though. a while haha.

In April I had to go under for the first time... :( For a few hours...

I had a cyst that decided to show up on my cheek. Now I have a beautiful scar...but hey, it's a great conversation starter. ^_^

i went in for ten minutes, and that was to have 4 permanent teeth (not wisdom teeth, i was 13 at the time) pulled out of my mouth to make room for wisdom teeth and i was really loopy afterwards, lol :lol_roll:

Yeah, same here (never broken bones or stitches). I was put under once for a short oral surgery, I think it took an hour max. They were removing the skin from an impacted canine and attaching a bracket. The only reason we did it that way was because we'd already tried it with me awake and it was extremely painful despite the meds so the dentist stopped halfway through and referred me to the oral surgeon. I also had various teeth pulled (9 total, 5 baby teeth, 4 permanent), but I don't really count those as surgeries.

I had about a 3 hour sugery to put a screw in my ankle when I was 13(never stand up on a sled while going down hill) and when I was 15 about a 30 minute sugery tro remove it.

I've never had any really major surgery. The only thing that could be counsidered surgical is when I fell out of a tree and cut my side open requiring 22 stitches.

I've had three surgeries, but I have no idea how long any of them were. I had my wisdom teeth removed, my spleen removed and thorasic surgery to repair an artery that the doctor accidently poked... (long story)...
