dUSt Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Dude... I am the dumpster diving MASTER!!! I've been dumpster diving since I was a kid. I've gotten SO much stuff, from Braum's ice cream, to brand new shoes, to magazines, to tons of books, rare books, vinyl records, donuts, radios, other cool electrical gadgets, etc, etc, etc. As kids, me and my brother were mall rats because my mom was a hair stylist and brought us with her to work instead of paying for a sitter. Dumpster diving was the BEST part of going. Radio Shack, the bookstores, sporting good stores... man, you wouldn't believe the stuff they throw away! Nowadays, dumpster diving is becoming a lost art, as all the major stores now have the "compacter" dumpsters, where you can't get into them.

My brother lived in Lawrence, KS near the University of Kansas...people would buy all new stuff for an apartment, then toss it a year or two later when they moved....he got a really nice couch that way...

zwergel88 Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 I didn't know about the Supreme Court decision, but when I tryed to throw something in a dumpster outside of a Blockbuster they called the police because they thought that I was trying to take their trash. They police came too, but they couldn't stop laughing, I think they must get alot of calls about dumpster diving.

Tony Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 I havn't done any hardcore dumpster diving.. but I have found coax wire on a big spool, and a CB antenna.. Im a radio enthusiast.. as well as a ham.. so I find stuff like that to be useful

I used to visit a chat room that catored to radio/computer/satellite dish stuff.. there was 1 woman that found all kinds of that stuff in dumpsters.. working!. The satellite dishes, we aren't talking the DirecTV/Dish Network stuff.. some of thee are the mroe larger ones that have a lot of free programming on it...
