How do u explain the importance of Catholicism to someone who doesn't believe religion is important? b/c somebody asked me why we would need it.

why do we need religion? b/c there are specific beliefs that we must hold about our Lord and specific ways in which we must worship him. religion provides this necessary order to our beliefs and our worship.

we need the Catholic Church b/c man, when left to his own devices, creates a myriad of false and contradictory religions in his attempt to understand God and worship Him. in order to remedy this chaos, Jesus Christ instituted a sure and steady guide to be his incarnational presence of authority and to ensure that our beliefs and our worship is always True. this guide is the Catholic Church, and w/o it we would undoubtedly faulter.

I think you have to convince them that they are sinners first. Thta they are wounded and they wound others. They then need to learn the consequences of sin. That it brings about eternal punishment if left unrepented. Then they need to know that there is a path they need to be on where they can be healed of their wounded nature and can work toward greater charity toward others whom they hurt. The end result being eternal life, rather than eternal death.

If you want a good, basic presentation of the Gospel, get "God's Love For You" from Catholic Answers. It does an excellent job of laying out what Christ and the Catholic Church is all about from a very basic point of view.

I'm a googlin fool.
I heard about it on the radio about a year ago and found it and ordered 1000. I have about 500 left. This old dog does have a few tricks but I must admit it is rare that I best you at this stuff. :
