Unbiased apologetics websites

Raphael, brilliant.

Littleles, one does not need to have a "tag" in their profile to let other people know what religion they're part of. I'm Catholic, even though I have nothing in my profile to say so. How do I back it up? By what I believe.

is it not intellectual when one has honest questions and concerns because they do not understand the truth?

There's going to be a LittleLes quiet around here apparently.

(sorry I had to chime in for a second).

Yes, it is, however, for those of us who have debated BigMore, we all know that he knows the truth (he self declared it to be so), so his tactics are not honest nor are they concerns.....

That is why Micah's satire is so flippin' funny.

No, that's intellectual.

What's not intellectual is making up facts and arguments, rejecting counterarguments on bases that were just pulled out of thin air, and then blindly insisting that you're right and the others are wrong.

I'm reminded of the little dwarves at the end of the Chronicles of Narnia series.
the debate table (super happy friendly happy dialogue corner) moderation should be unbiased, and it is to the extent that opposing non-Catholic viewpoints can be posted as much as they like.

however, if you claim to be Catholic then you are held to a higher standard and should rep the Church.

all LittleLes must do is honestly admit he isn't Catholic.  I could come up with a thousand council anathemas that apply to him and show that he is not in communion with the Catholic Church from the Church's view.

Yes, in moderating we must remain unbiased so as to be fair in all moderating decisions. This board as whole, however, IS biased. Its CATHOLIC, and nothing less than orthodox.
Let's see....

the phorum rules are not up, I presume, due to the transition the board went through at the beginning of the summer.  I'm sure dUSt is working on it.

dUSt has also since removed the listing of people's religions from their profiles.  Nevermind the fact that your "list of the religion of all posters who are Catholic" request makes no sense whatsoever.

Finally, if you perceive this website to be biased and not objective - yes, I realize dUSt told you it was biased - then why, why, why do you persist in coming back here?  You've made your "invitation", and this is not a debatable topic.  As far as I can tell, this thread is just a gripe session.

Fare such as this belongs in Open Mic.  If it belongs anywhere on this board at all.

Good day.

Agreed. It would be much easier to list all the non-Catholic posters. lol
RESPONSE:

Oh now I see. The rules saying that Catholics can't debate catholics aren't really posted.

And since we don't know posters religions, there is no way of complying with the rule anyway other than to agree with everybody! :ohno:

Ah yes! A free intellectual exchange. Is that forbidden in Catholicism?

I am going to scour the phorum and find every instance of the rules being quoted and posted that I can. The link to the guidelines may not be functional right now, but the rules remain and I can show them to you. In fact, the rules were in place and the link was functional when you joined, its your fault for not reading them.

Just For Les:

The Guidelines

"If obedience doesn't give you peace, it's because you're proud." - St Josemaria Escriva

Personal Attacks- a post or comment that has nothing to do with the topic, but is specifically meant to upset or criticize another person or group of people. This includes, but is not limited to, calling people "heretics" (used in a derogatory manner), "democrooks", etc.

"Never reprimand anyone while you feel provoked over a fault that has been committed. Wait until the next day, or even longer. Then make your remonstrance calmly and with a purified intention. You'll gain more with an affectionate word than you ever would from three hours of quarreling. Control your temper." - St Josemaria Escriva

Negative Criticism of Other Religions- a post or comment that negatively criticizes (as opposed to constructively criticizes) a different religion in a way that is harmful to open ecumenical dialogue.

"The Church knows that she is joined in many ways to the baptized who are honored by the name of Christian, but do not profess the Catholic faith in its entirety or have not preserved unity or communion under the successor of Peter." Those "who believe in Christ and have been properly baptized are put in a certain, although imperfect, communion with the Catholic Church." - Catechism of the Catholic Church, 838

Catholic vs Catholic Debate- a post or comment that results in doctrinal debates that might cause scandal among the faithful. *Effective immediately, any negative criticism of the current Magisterium will result in deletion, and a warning from the moderators. This includes but is not limited to criticism of the Novus Ordo mass and/or our Holy Father.

Mature Content- a post or comment that has a subject matter not appropriate for underage visitors. The moderators will be asked to use good judgement, so please use common sense. Note: This should not be confused with theological or intellectual restrictions--this guideline only applies to the subject--not the level of discussion.
