Cure of Ars Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 It could be my imagination but Mr. Incredible reminds me a lot of Jesus. For example, Mr. Incredible is captured with his arms held out wide and his legs together in the form of a cross (see the picture above). Mr. Incredible believes that his family has died and they are his life and because of this, in a way, he dies. Mr. Syndrome dares him to repay evil for evil but Mr. Incredible chooses not to do this. Later, Mr. Incredible finds out that his family is not dead and through this situation the family gains healing, new life and they concur evil. Now it is not totally the same but there are many similarities…coincidence? I think not.
zwergel88 Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 wow, that sounds like there could be similarities, I'll have to rent the movie
Lil Red Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 it's a good flick, but i think sometimes we read what we want to read into a movie. i think disney (and i say this as a huge fan of disney movies) sometimes uses familiar imagery in their movies to capture people's imagination.
Brother Adam Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 I think you're reading way too much into it :
franciscanheart Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 (edited) its nice that you look for the Truth in everything but again, with a good imagination anything is possible. i'd have to say you're definitely reading too much into it and it's time you go to the funny farm. repeat "never fear, the men in white are here" over and over and they'll keep you for life. good luck and God bless. edit to say.... this was a joke. please no one take me seriously right now. RC_ Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 If Mr. Incredible = Jesus, then Frozone = Simon Peter?
scardella Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 But Jesus wasn't married... Peter did have a mother-in-law, though. So he was at least married at some point.
allis-challmers Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 I like the movie but mr increadable is just like a lot of other movies just like it with a stand up hero weather they have special powers or not. They just made the hero the same as what most people what a hero to be.
I'm pretty sure that Jesus didn't wear spandex!
I love that quote
FlyLikeABird Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005
I'm pretty sure that Jesus didn't wear spandex!
Oh MAN is that funny! But seriously if did want to compare Christ to Mr. Incredible you must also know that Mr. Incredible is VIRTUALLY indestructible whereas Christ is COMPLETELY indestructible. That is to say that Mr. Incredible, if he were to die would remain dead in body (his soul of course would go to heaven/hell/purgatory) BUT Christ died and was raised in body and in soul. : And that's my theological 2 cents for today.
morostheos Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 I must say they did have some really good morals - I really liked the line where they say Syndrome might do something worse than kill their parents - he might split up their marriage!
stargirl3:16 Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 anybody ever notice that this smiley below looks a lot like Syndrome?
Cure of Ars Posted August 23, 2005 Author Posted August 23, 2005
But Jesus wasn't married...
Sure he was,,,he was married to the Church, the bride of Christ.

[Twilight Zone music plays in the background] It all fits together.......LIKE A GLOVVVVVVVE And you ever notice that Elastic girl in the end "bears" Mr. Incredables and their offspring while on a space ship to save the world. And Mary is called the Theotokos or God bearer when she bore Jesus to save the world . Coincidence? I think not!

But he did not wear a cape as well. He knew something a lot of super hero’s had to learn the hard way. You ever hear of Jesus Christ Supper Star. I rest my case.
Old_Joe Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005
Later, Mr. Incredible finds out that his family is not dead and through this situation the family gains healing, new life and they concur evil.
I'm sure you mean conquer instead of concur. To concur means to agree with. In this case you're be saying the Incredibles agree with evil.
