Is this a bad topic for an english paper?

I have to write a paper about remembering something and the story has to have a point. I don't have a lot of things before college that I feel like I remember very well and could come up with some point about. I was thinking maybe when I met people in the coptic club at my old school and how I wished I had hung out more with people there rather than still trying harder to be more a part of a certian group when I felt like that worked only around certain people. I was thinking that that might highlight that I am a Christian a little less than having the opportunity to be a youth group counselor. I go to a public community college. Or I could write about staying in a cabin with my best friend from my old school and her family, but I don't know what point I would make with that. Or I could write about the example I have used in opposing pacifism in defense of others and how I admired my brother for that, but I was not privy to many details and that might be more my brother's story. Or when I went with two friends to go clothes shopping and how in the attempt to reflect one part of an identity, it's easy to loose sight of what ours really is but even there I don't know if I remember enough though maybe.

Thoughts?

I don't understand what you mean.

My prof mentioned something about it being best to write about certain things after a little while (sometimes a year) had past. Over the summer I realized that I didn't have enough conviction in my life/faith/insert appropriate description here and that I didn't have any actual reasons for believing in Jesus other than what people said and the Bible said Jesus was real. Even leaving out what I do not want to discuss with a lot of people, I don't know if that would then be the best because this is talking about what happened over the last couple of months and I would still like to know more. Would that not be too soon?

Maybe you could write about an experience that you had which taught you a lesson....

like a time when you maybe judged someone and afterward discovered who they really were

or maybe a lesson that really stuck with you that someone in your family (parents, grandparents, etc.) taught you

Those ideas would both fulfill the requirement of writing about an experience you had that had a moral or point.

Most of the things like that that I recall were things where I made some kind of mistake, like taking 16 units again when I did not do very well the year before taking that many and I really did do betting taking 12 or when I said I would not drink at all in college and then within a couple of months, my RA mentioned that she heard I had been drinking (I didn't have much after that) or lying about doing my drivers ed work although I am a drivers ed drop out who really doesn't feel like she missed much.

Is there a good point I could make about visiting a Rescue mission that helped homeless people in various ways including spiritually as it was a Christian organization?
Perhaps you should write about the most influential person in your life and how they became that person to you.  How does that person influence you today, as opposed to when you first knew him/her.

I will post on the other thread too.

Mom, rest of my immediate family, roommate at other college who really helped me grow as a Christian if I really want to discuss life at another college.

Maybe you could write on something mundane, like a memory of a trip to a public place, but couch the whole thing in philosophical and psychological observations and tie it all together into some kind of grand synthesis which becomes the ultimate point of the whole paper. Maybe some key insight into the human condition. That would be neat.

Like bonding over food and it's significance in our social well-being because of the nature of food as necessary for life and the ability to share our lives over food or some such thing?

I love it! :)
Maybe it would make the teacher happy if you also managed to weave in specifics of the experience as illustrations of the principles or something.. I dunno.. I'm sure that's a workable start anyway.

So I just need to think of some time when I was eating with a friend at my old college where I came up with the idea that people bond over food. I kind of like that idea.

That last one sounds good. I was just thinking about that...
