Brother Adam Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Would we speak of the "Kingdom of God" that Jesus preached as having been established in the Catholic Church? Most Rapturists point to a kingdom that will be established at the Second Coming to prove their theory. I'm trying to work through David Currie's Rapture, but it is a bit tough. I don't mind an indepth answer, but would prefer to stay away from copy and pastes.
Pio Nono Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 JMJ 8/24 - St. Bartholomew Brother Adam, The kingdom of God exists within Jesus Christ; He speaks of the arrival of the kingdom before the establishment of the Church (His first command was to do penance, as the kingdom of Heaven was at hand). As a result of this, the kingdom of Heaven also mystically exists in each one of the baptized as well. The Catholic Church is a symbol of the fullness of the kingdom, which we will only know after we're six feet under. I can't say whether the Catholic Church is the kingdom which Christ spoke of, though. I'm open to correction on this point. Hope this helps. Yours, Pio Nono
