Didacus Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 In another forum, someone posted that the Catholic church's teachings in contraceptive is not for the magestorium nor is it, within the Cathloic faith, considered an infailible teaching. Thus; Is contraception teachings part or not of the infailable teachings of the church? How can one know for certain if a teaching of the church is infailible or not? I believe the pope is not, by himself, considered infailible. is this correct? Finally; What are the prerequisites that make a teaching infailible? I thank you in advance for your reply. Pax Christi.
Laudate_Dominum Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 The Encyclical Humanae Vitae of Pope Paul VI was a definitive statement of the Church's constant teaching on this subject. Humanae Vitae is quite clear that this is a definitive teaching and a truth of the natural law being officially elucidated according to the specific charism of the Church with regard to faith and morals. Here is the document: http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/paul_vi/...e-vitae_en.html God bless.
