ReinnieR Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005
New Jersey is one of two states (Oregon), where it is illegal to pump your own gas. Some may find this odd, but it's pretty cool (you should see it sometime). When I lived in Jersey, we didn't have to pump our own gas. :
there are places in Jersey that are self service it's like central Jersey though around monmouth county freehold, marlboro, howell, holmdel that area

ReinnieR Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 New Jersey • Lovers in Liberty Corner should avoid satisfying their lustful urges in a parked car. If the horn accidentally sounds while they are frolicking behind the wheel, the couple can face a jail term. that's why i did it on the passenger side. that steering wheel is annoying (when they said Liberty Corner i was thinking Liberty State Park somewhere there.)

We moved to Wilmington, Delaware (which I stayed till I was 14), but Wilmington is not far from the area. Gotta love the Northeast, where everything is relatively close by.

I could've sworn it's the entire state.
StColette Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 New Orleans It illegal for a woman to drive a car unless her husband is waving a flag in front of it. lol interesting...

morostheos Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005
It's not disgusting, it creates jobs, and it makes people depend on others. If someone were anti-social or hated people, there would be a reason to complain. You only pay for the price of the gas, nothing extra. He (or she) gets paid hourly, not on commission.
The only problem with that law is that long-term exposure to gasoline vapors cause cancer, so gas station workers there have much higher rates of cancer than the average citizen. In Pennsylvania, it is illegal to hold a scavenger hunt - in college we had lots of "looking for things" parties instead :
Fidei Defensor Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 Here in La Crosse, Wisconsin, it is illegal to park your horse on main street... and it is illegal to "worry a squirrel".. hmm
Socrates Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005
eww, do you have to pay them to pump it for you?
Prior to sometime in the '60s or so, this was normal practice everywhere. "Service stations" had attendants who pumped gas and cleaned the windshields while the patrons waited. (Where I live, there was one station that did this until they closed a few years ago, though it also had two self-service pumps.)

I would rather leave it up to the person to decide if he or she wants that kind of job.
the_rev Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 I think speed limits are pointless... Heck the autobahn doesn't have one does it, why do freeways have too! Anyhow, in Wisconsin it's illegal to molest a butterfly, meaning Micheal Jackson can't move here....

FutureSoror Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 I know that it used to be illegal in Wisconsin to serve apple pie without a slice of cheddar coagulated milk.
