Joey1976 Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 I understand that it is wrong for a man to recieve oral sex and ejaculation to occur. I understand why this is wrong. However, is it wrong for a woman to recieve oral sex from her husband and achieve orgasm? Why or why not? Thanks
Laudate_Dominum Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 This is difficult to respond to in detail given the fact that very young people have access to this forum. To the best of my knowledge there is no basis in Catholic teaching to assert that oral sex from husband to wife is contrary to the moral law. While I can imagine scenarios in which this activity may be advisable, there are likely women who would not be comfortable with it. And I would say that if this type of activity were to dominate a couples sexual life there may be a problem. Since even sexual acts that are perfectly moral within marriage can be abused if the intentions and spirit of the act are corrupt. I ask the young and innocent to read no further as I feel I cannot adequately answer the question without being a bit explicit. If we look at the two primary aspects of the conjugal act, namely the procreate and unitive dimensions, I can see two reasons which may support the appropriateness of this activity assuming that it is something the spouses are even comfortable with. On the unitive side, it could be problematic for the relationship (depending on the specific needs of the couple certainly) if in the course of their conjugal life, the man was accustomed to achieve climax and the woman was not. In such a case the act in question would be a very real option. On the procreative side, it is a fact that the woman's womb is most receptive to the seed of the man during her sexual climax. For this reason the act in questions may actually be seen as promoting openness to life if the circumstances are such as described above. (This is very much in contrast to the case of oral sex from wife to husband ending in sexual climax). It is always the duty of a Catholic married couple to prayerfully study and internalize the Catholic teaching and vision of married life and love, and thus be capable of properly discerning what is good and holy in their conjugal life. God bless you.
Laudate_Dominum Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Someone PMed me an objection to the following statement made in my previous post:
it is a fact that the woman's womb is most receptive to the seed of the man during her sexual climax.
To clarify: this statement does not refer to a woman's fertility which orgasm does not effect. Rather it refers to the fact that during orgasm the cervix pulsates in such a way that a kind of suction action occurs which draws the semen from the vagina into the uterus. This completes the full symbolism of the act by which the essence of the man is, as it were, drawn into the woman's deepest center. And there is also clear evidence that this increases the likelihood of conception in the event that the woman is in fact ovulating. So in essence what I was trying to convey was precisely what I said, namely that the woman's womb [uterus] is most receptive to [capable of receiving] the seed of the man during her sexual climax. This capacity for receiving ought not be mistaken for fertility, although it may factor in to the success of conception. I apologize if anyone misunderstood my point. Regards. Here is a quote from wikipedia which I hope will substantiate my claim:
During orgasm, the cervix convulses and the external os dilates in such a way as to draw any semen in the vagina into the uterus
