Fides_et_Ratio Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 so I'm waiting my turn to back out of my parking space and go home after class today when this lady zooms by in her van, attempting to squish between me and an oncoming car, misjudges, and scrapes up my bumper! I jump out, and so she stops, jumps out of her car, says "no problem" and then gets back in and drives away--while I notice a larger dent and scratch all along the upper side of her car above the small scratch from mine-- obviously I wasn't her first victim. And the funny thing? This lady is in my class!
Brother Adam Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Wanna hear about my first day. : I'm drowning in homework and I've only been in 2 of my 6 classes so far. ahaha. Far cry from those silly 100 level classes I was taking. 400's are a bit different.
Fides_et_Ratio Posted August 30, 2005 Author Posted August 30, 2005 no. my car is a POS anyway.. it's not worth suing over. I'm just mad she acted like it wasn't a big deal. I am not a target!
homeschoolmom Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Isn't leaving the scene of an accident without exchanging information a crime?
Fides_et_Ratio Posted August 30, 2005 Author Posted August 30, 2005 lol, poor Bro. Adam... I have it easy now... LOTS less reading and my "big" papers.. are the lower end of the length requirement at FUS!

homeschoolmom Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 When you see her, point out that until you, the victim, say "No problem," there's a problem.
Extra ecclesiam nulla salus Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 come into class the next time you have it a neck brace and be like LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO ME!!!!!!!!!
Fides_et_Ratio Posted August 30, 2005 Author Posted August 30, 2005 the damage on my car isn't bad... just a scratch. My frustration is more annoyance than anything else--especially since there is a higher, identical mark on her car that indicates it's happened before. EENS... I don't think it would be good to lie to a fellow student in my THEOLOGY class...
shelly_freak Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 College parking lots are the worst! I fear for my life every time I'm in my college parking lot.
prose Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 I let a woman get away with dinging my car once. I regret it. I should have said something. I have a big scratch in my door b/c she opened her door into mine. So much for not wanting to cause trouble. I actually like my car.
Sojourner Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 I once got into a fender bender in a Wal-Mart parking lot in a brand-new convertible loaned to my company from the auto dealership so we could drive it in a parade. It was my fault, too. Thankfully, my company took care of it.
Era Might Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 (edited)
When you see her, point out that until you, the victim, say "No problem," there's a problem.
Even if the other person says no problem, you should ALWAYS take down their information. A lady once hit my stepfather's car in a parking lot, and she was crying and wailing, saying she has been in other accidents and she doesn't know what she's gonna do, so he said it was no problem and let her go. A few weeks later, he gets a letter in the mail from his insurance company saying the lady called her own insurance company and said he hit her. Edited August 30, 2005 by Era Might
Fides_et_Ratio Posted August 30, 2005 Author Posted August 30, 2005 Well considering I see her every week a couple times because she's in class with me... any surprise letters I might get could be handled. It's on my rear bumper anyhow, so I would've needed the witnesses to stick around to say that I wasn't moving. Otherwise, because it's on the back of my car, it looks like it was my fault. Though, the other scratch (which is a lot worse) is very telling of her own driving record.
Extra ecclesiam nulla salus Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005
EENS... I don't think it would be good to lie to a fellow student in my THEOLOGY class...
yeah proablley not the best idea
Fides_et_Ratio Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 AHHHHH, this is SO frustrating! as I'm waiting for it to get closer to 8am so I can get inside to work in the admissions office (cuz it was raining and I didn't want to wait outside).. and I see the lady who hit me yesterday standing behind my car and when I looked up she ran away! AND THEN, when I left to go to work, I heard a door shut, so I looked around, and saw her again going back towards my car.. so I turned around to walk back and talk to her and find out if there was a problem or something, and then she sees me, runs back to her van and jumps in! I had to go to work, so I just shook my head and left like, "what the heck?" and I went back after work and checked my car, but she didn't leave a note or anything, so I dunno what she was doing... SO I call my dad and he has me call Campus Security, so I did.. and made it clear that I'm not worried about the damage to my car or anything, I just want to know what's up so I don't have to be surprised by people hanging around behind my car at a quarter to eight in the morning... and now security wants me to go talk to her tomorrow before class and then come down (with her) to fill out a form and get things all cleared up. BLAH. I hate confrontational sorts of things. I didn't want to make it a big deal, but I had to call security to let them know something was up in case she's planning something (like trying to charge me for the accident). But I'm hoping she was just trying to scope the damage to my bumper or something?
shelly_freak Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Most likely she just wanted to see the damage she did but lets hope that's all.
