Brother Adam Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 I know I've been posting less and less so half of you probably don't even know who I am haha. Anyways the new semester is underway now here at FUS and I've been slammed with very difficult, but very rewarding classes. Most schools the first class you get a syllabas and a book list and your done. I've stayed the whole time in all of my classes and already have massive amounts of homework (woo hoo!). I'm thinking about dropping my student work job so I have more time for homework. Regardless I know I won't be online much, but on the other hand I'm learning all about how to be a catechist in the Catholic Church and lead a parishes education program. Our major is also now officially a "Catechatics" major instead of "Religious Education". Well this will be my fun for the semester: THE: Christian Social Teaching THE: Liturgy THE: Old Testament (PBS1) CAT: RCIA CAT: Methods GRK: Greek 1
lifeteenchick527 Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 aww good luck with school bro adam!!! we miss u!! come back more : hehe God Bless LTC
Fidei Defensor Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Oh good.. I was afraid that cat of yours grew too much and ate you.. well, I see that is not the case.. Good to hear from you, and prayers for you
Thy Geekdom Come Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 As long as Adam's discussing this, I'm looking at less than an hour a day on websites...maybe a little more in chat time.
Fides_et_Ratio Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO incredibly jealous you're taking the Liturgy class-- when I noticed it was being offered, I ALMOST stayed just one more semester cuz I wanted to take it so badly. compare, contrast, and argue...
Fides_et_Ratio Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005
your taking Greek?
Greek is good. Maybe Bro. Adam will be able to read the New Testament in its original language afterwards. Bro. Adam, do you have Almeida for your Greek prof. He's a tough prof...
Extra ecclesiam nulla salus Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Greek is a cool launguage ive actually been to Greece and some of my family is Greek Orthodox. I learned a little but i have since forgotten most of it. sam

Philippe Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 that sounds like a great year! hope you make it through alive!
Lil Red Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 just check in every once in awhile! how's teresa?
Brother Adam Posted September 1, 2005 Author Posted September 1, 2005 EENS, That's cool. Yep, it is two full years of intense Greek for me. I have the full first lesson down (dipthongs, grammar rules, and alphabet, as well as accents). Not bad for the first lesson. Fides, That's the idea! Fundamentalists and Baptists swim in Greek to prove Catholics wrong. I'm getting a better education in Greek than a Baptist ever will though, because we start with an older, and truer dialect - Attic Greek and then understand the variations in the Koine Greek that the NT was written in. The liturgy class looks so far like it is going to be excellent. I can't wait! Some people say Father is a bit boring, but the subject is so awesome I can't imagine being bored. We will go through all of the documents in "The Liturgy Documents" as well as the history of Christian Worship. People seem to be quite jealous I get to take the class. Philippe, I hope I make it alive too! Already I have not fully finished my homework for tomorrow and I've been working on it all evening - and this is the second day of class. wowsers. Lil' Red, I'll be on now and then of course. Just nothing like what got me these 8,000 posts. Teresa is still on now and then too. lol. She's involved in a lot of youth groups though this year
Brother Adam Posted September 1, 2005 Author Posted September 1, 2005
how many credits?
18. Possibly 21 if I am allowed to audit the THE 211 course that was not so good over the summer (we all got A's, but he didn't cover what we needed to learn).
FlyLikeABird Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 I am so jealous! I would love to do a Theology or other religious subject programme....
phatcatholic Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 bro.............are you workin on the bachelors or the masters in theology?
Pio Nono Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 JMJ 9/1 - Twenty-second Thursday Well, Greek is also good for things like reading the Eastern Fathers and other major theologians.
Brother Adam Posted September 1, 2005 Author Posted September 1, 2005 Nick, B.A. in Theology and a B.A. in Catechetics.
Nicole8223 Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 Yuck....I had 18 credits last semester and worked two jobs....it was crazy!
