Old_Joe Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005
The more children I have, the more my energy is sapped....
You need a rickshaw and have them pull you around. I'm jk :
Old_Joe Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 First comes love THEN comes marriage THEN comes a baby in the baby carriage. I need to find a new job first. I can barely pay for my own meals how can I expect to pay for two?
cappie Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005
Well, the first step is to get people off their butts and married instead of this "single life"/"you don't need a family to be happy" nonsense......
From my point of view I think the single celebate life would help my vocation as a priest and give my provincial and Bishop less heart burn
FlyLikeABird Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 It's a constant source of pain for me to know that people willingly kill unborn babies. I hate it because I can't have kids and if I wasn't called to religious life I would want to adopt/have kids. I would adopt as many as I could. I love little children.

It's also an unnatural state. The cathechism states that the vocation to marriage is instilled in every human being. God said in the beginning "It is not good for the man to be alone". And being single is not a vocation, it is a state of life.
thessalonian Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005
Perfect example of what I'm speaking about. Why did the widows who spoke Greek need their share of the daily distribution even though they had Christ? (see Acts 6) Just because one has Christ doesn't mean one doesn't have temporal needs, too.
Do be so quick to judge his post. Some are called to celibacy for the kingdom. And that does not neccessarily mean to the priesthood or in a monastary.

And being single is not a vocation, it is a state of life.
I find your chastising of Era Might most unsettling. 1658 We must also remember the great number of single persons who, because of the particular circumstances in which they have to live - often not of their choosing - are especially close to Jesus' heart and therefore deserve the special affection and active solicitude of the Church, especially of pastors. Many remain without a human family often due to conditions of poverty. Some live their situation in the spirit of the Beatitudes, serving God and neighbor in exemplary fashion. The doors of homes, the "domestic churches," and of the great family which is the Church must be open to all of them. "No one is without a family in this world: the Church is a home and family for everyone, especially those who 'labor and are heavy laden.'"172 Some are celibate for the kingdom. Consider yourself rebuked for criticising his state in life. We should not look to the Holy Father's words as a springboard to look down upon those who are not in the same state as us. We should not look at them as a license to say things that hurt those who do not have as many children as us and I have had related to me a sad story or two by women who were unable to concieved being looked down upon and rude comments being made about their faith by Catholics who had no idea of their stuggles to have children. A very painful stuggle indeed from what I have been told and from my wife's participation on a message board where women talk about infertility. Blessings
