the_rev Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 So I went to my first Latin Mass ever today, it was offered by the Institute of Christ the King. For the most part I could follow along in this red little booklet but got lost, and then found my spot again, and got lost again. It seemed like the priest said the entire mass and we (the congregation) didn't say much of anything, at least I didn't hear anything. It was a low mass, and I don't know but I didn't hear any Eucharistic Prayer, all I knew was to be reverent when he elevated the consecrated host and chalice. And at the times that the bell wrung. Anyways, I hope to go back on Sunday, we shall see, I can pray. Also there was this cute girl there, (another reason why I want to go back.) Anyways, I enjoyed it, it was beautiful, reverent, and it felt like Mass. I don't know I can only describe it as uplifting. Anyways gotta get going, I have been up since 3 AM this morning at a hospital. Your brother in Christ, Eddie Lee
CrossCuT Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 I love Latin Masses!

FutureSoror Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 I was going to go to Mass tonight, and I totally forgot about it until now!! Ah, well, first day of school: Other things on my mind. What Mass are you going to on Sunday? I'll be singing in the choir at the 10:00 high Mass. Oh, and I'm sure I probably know the girl you saw! Care to tell what she looks like? :
Extra ecclesiam nulla salus Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 YEah latin mass is chills. High mass is great and my favorite part is getting incensed...... for going to the NO for all my life and than suddenly going to the Tridentine was confusing, but i loved it. I actaully asked my Priest if he could see if i could be confirmed in the Traditional Tridentine way.... hopefully hopefully.......

Church is always a great place to meet girls. After all, you're a devout Catholic guy, she's a devout Catholic girl- hey it only makes logical sense. Some of my fav lines (for use after Mass is done, of course): 10. May I offer you a light for that votive candle? 9. Hi there. My buddy and I were wondering if you would settle a dispute we're having. Do you think the word should be pronounced HOMEschooling, or homeSCHOOLing? 8. Sorry, but I couldn't help notice how cute you look in that ankle-length, shapeless, plaid jumper. 7. What's a nice girl like you doing at a First Saturday Rosary Cenacle like this? 6. You don't like the culture of death either? Wow! We have so much in common! 5. Let's get out of here. I know a much cozier little Catholic bookstore downtown. 4. I bet I can guess your confirmation name. 3. You've got stunning scapular-brown eyes. 2. Did you feel what I felt when we reached into the holy water font at the same time? 1. Confess here often?
blueufo7 Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005
Sorry, but I couldn't help notice how cute you look in that ankle-length, shapeless, plaid jumper
hahahaha those pickup lines were GREAT!! was that particular line with the jumper from Jason Evert's "Romance without regret" tape? hahaha.... uh don't ask me how i know that.
FlyLikeABird Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 at the pick up lines. I love the Latin mass. The language is just so beautiful.
dUSt Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 I always take my ladies to the Catholic Shoppe.
brendan1104 Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 The indult (or insult as I like to call it, you don't need permission to celebrate/attend the Tridentine or any other approved rite) is limited in alot of places. And part of the reason the indult is in a certain diocese, is because SSPX, SSPV, CMRI, or an independent chapel are there. In alot of places, the bishop won't allow baptisms, first communions, confirmations, marriages, even requiem masses to be done- these restrictions are even in FSSP chapels! Some indults don't have Holy week services, at the bishop's request. If Eddie is going to the ICRSP then there could/should be confirmations... the indult isn't as generous in many places as people think.
Dave Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 An indult Mass is one where permission has been given by the bishop. In order for a Tridentine Mass to be licitly celebrated in a diocese, the bishop has to give permission for it. And regardless of what Brendan claims, you DO INDEED have to have permission to celebrate or attend it.
MC Just Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 Eddie, it was like that for me the first time i went... you'll get used to it. its so wonderful..
FutureSoror Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 I go to the church Eddie went to, and I was confirmed in the traditional rite. Of course, we were Actually confirmed in the La Crosse Diocese.
FlyLikeABird Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 I loved my parish priest when I was growing up. He had indult to say high mass at noon on Sunday and he more often than not wore the cassock rather than the pants. Well, pnats underneath in windy weather.
