Going to Rome in November, shortly after my birthday, anything you would like me to pass onto His Holiness? :D:

I have been once before, for my 18th birthday, which was last year...only there for a few days, any recommendations on cool stuff to do?

Aside from the basics (the 4 major basilicas, the forum, pantheon, etc.) I particularly recommend seeing San Clemente (a few blocks from John Lateran) which has a 11th (?) century church, built over a 4th century church, built over a 1st century apartment complex. The lower levels are excavated so you can go down into them.

You need to read George Wiegel's "Letters to Young Catholics," it is a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay awesome guide book.

You mean Santa Maria della Concezione? That's one interesting church. :P:

Definitely check out St. Paul's Outside the Walls, too.

yeah colleen, thats the one. our hotel was just across the road from it. this time I will be taking my granda(grandfather) and he is going in for an operation on his leg next month, so I want somewhere closer to the Vatican. we passed a place on the via della concolizione(sp) which looked really good, seen nuns and priests going into it too. I am looking into it!

can't wait! :D:

If you want to see what REAL Romans are like, go to the Via del Corso in the early evening. It's a fun time. It's a major road that runs from the Piazza del Popolo to the Vittorio Emmanuelle Monument. Right next to it is the Spanish Steps, which are equally fun, but after supper.

That is my favorite part of Rome.....
