AlterDominicus Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 (edited) I'm trying to find the absolute CHEAPEST roundtrip ticket either From: Minneapolis MN To: Detroit MI OR From: Minneapolis MN To: Ann Arbor MI Help please........................ Edited September 1, 2005 by AlterDominicus
catholicflower Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 Definitly on the same quest, well mine to from Washington, DC To Detroit What I am doing is going to several travel websites (Cheaptickets.com, Cheapseats.com, Orbitz.com, expedia.com...I cant think of anymore right now) and when you find a flight that you like, check out the airline's website, you can somtimes get it for about 10/15 dollars cheaper. Hope this helps
morostheos Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 you can usually get flights for less than other posted prices on priceline, but you don't get to choose which airline or what time your flight arrives/leaves I've done it multiple times though, and sometimes you can save a lot of money.
Era Might Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 Under $200 if you're willing to ride Greyhound.
AlterDominicus Posted September 1, 2005 Author Posted September 1, 2005 Last time when I was trying to make it to Ann Arbor for the retreat greyhound was 118, but went up and last time I didnt send in my reservation, but this time I did. Its just the whole transfer thing with greyhound.
Old_Joe Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 I used Orbitz.com for my last trip. They ended up being the least expensive.
AlterDominicus Posted September 1, 2005 Author Posted September 1, 2005 A couple of them you cant because you have to have an adult or a senior with you *rolls eyes* This smells of elderberries.
Iacobus Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Hotwire.com is pretty good for hotels (that is all I use it for) but I think they had airlines and stuff as well and are supposed to be cheap.
Birgitta Noel Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Well, first off there is only one airport that services Detroit and Ann Arbor, Detroit Metro. The airport code is DTW. Secondly, DTW is the hub of NWA, northwest airlines. So, they'd probably have the cheapest tickets from MSP to DTW. MSP (Minneapolis) is one of their other hubs.... Tickets are cheapest at midnight on Tuesdays I've heard. Apparently that's when airlines reset their fares. Buying from the airline sites should be cheapest as most travel sites now charge a fee and the airlines charge if you call em. Also, if you can fly early am on a friday or sat and return on a mon/tues you may get a cheaper flight. Good luck!

What are your dates......? $258 is the cheapest I can find.
msahara Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 You could go to flyi.com or airtran.com. The only thing is that the 1st one you stop in dc and the 2nd one you stop in atl. I fly on the east coast but if you're in the midwest these airlines might be more inconvenient.
Birgitta Noel Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Hmmmm, pm me some dates and I'll see what I can find....
AlterDominicus Posted September 2, 2005 Author Posted September 2, 2005 The dates are Departure: Oct. 22 Return: Oct. 23
jp2_rules Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 it's hard to find cheap flights within the US. i'd suggest just looking around at the different sites already mentioned, and see what's around. college students can also use http://www.studentuniverse.com which has good prices as well.

Can you be a bit more flexible, say returning on the 24th in the am? Or Coming in on the 21 late evening? What time do you have to be there by on the 22nd? And what's the earliest you can be at the airport on the 23rd?
p0lar_bear Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 If you are a student, try studentuniverse.com
