Sojourner Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 Other than a brief three-month stint a few years ago in which I housed a friend, and then five months in which I imposed on a family's hospitality, I've lived on my own for nigh onto five years. Two and a half months ago, a good friend/co-worker and I found this fantastically huge apartment at a great price and decided to go in together. It's definitely been an adjustment living with someone else, but we are both fairly accomodating, and we make pretty good housemates. And, our friendship has actually gotten even stronger since we started living together, which I'm very thankful for ... living with a friend is always a chancy thing. But it's really nice to have someone you can complain about work to when you've had a hard day, or someone you can drag along to a movie at a moment's notice, etc. So I've gotten used to not being alone, because she's almost always around, but this weekend she went to see her parents. My plans of biking up to see my parents fell through b/c of other people's safety concerns, so I have no plans over the entire three-day weekend except for dinner on Sunday night. I was really looking forward to it, but now the house is just empty and quiet, and it's really sort of lonely ...
FlyLikeABird Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 AAAWWWW. Come visit me, help me clean up my new apartment : I've got lots of books to put away.
Sojourner Posted September 3, 2005 Author Posted September 3, 2005 : Thanks for the offer! If gas weren't $3.50 a gallon, I'd consider it ...
Sojourner Posted September 3, 2005 Author Posted September 3, 2005 Hi Maester ... welcome to Phatmass! :
Maester Supremo Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 I don't need welcoming, I already know you, better than you know yourself. I am the rising phoenix, the messiah, the chosen one, I am... Phazzan.

Old_Joe Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 Believe me I know how you feel. My parents were away for over a week until yesterday. Normally, I wouldn't mind, but I really don't like alone.

My exciting plans for the weekend are to clean my children's filthy rooms (and while doing it myself would be a WONDERFUL blessing, I must endure and require them to participate...) That's today. Tomorrow looks like it has great promise as the children's godmother (RussianGirl) is taking the children to mass and then to Chuck E. coagulated milk for the day and we won't see them until late afternoon. While this seems like a great opportunity for HSdad and I, I fear that he's going to turn the day into an opportunity for us to plan a budget, and lay out some long-term goals for our unemployed future... <sigh> And Monday... well... same old nothing. No. Wait... clean the garage.

homeschoolmom Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 Well, I think we can probably do both... "Okay, honey-- two hours of budget/what-the-heck-are-we-going-to-do talk... but that's it. The rest is FUN TIME." We'll probably spend some time at the bookstore... It's soooo quiet there. And there are all those books... to be read... without being interupted... BLISS.... We have ten hours...

I get to spend some of my weekend digging through boxes looking for old tax records so that Uncle Sam and I can get back on good terms.
