zabbazooey Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 said this to me: "The Lady of Fatima? Does she point to God? No, she doesn't -- she is pointing to herself by asking for a shrine to honor he, when asking that the rosary be prayed to her. Our Lady of Fatima, you poor Catholics, is nothing other than Satan in drag." I tried to come up with this and that, and remember bible verses and I just stood there, yammering. I felt like such an idiot. I really need to study up on apologetics. She wants biblical this and that and I just don't know it. I need to get crackin'. Also when I do try to defend the faith, I need to be charitable. OOOH it's so hard.
zabbazooey Posted September 6, 2005 Author Posted September 6, 2005 Well let me rephrase that. I wasn't just blankly staring, but she wanted biblical this and that, and I was not ready for it.

She's not going to accept your biblical evidence anyway. Ask her where does it say that it all has to be in the Bible? Ask her what she thinks about Billy Graham and altar calls? If she says "they're Grrrrrreat" or something to that effect, ask her where in the Bible there is one where noone gets baptized as Billy Graham does not baptize at his. There is noone who becomes a Christian that I know of in scripture who is not baptized immediately. So if they go sola scriptura they should be doing it on the spot.
zabbazooey Posted September 6, 2005 Author Posted September 6, 2005 Thanks thess!!!! Still new at this apologetics stuff.
phatcatholic Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 also, note that her objection to marian shrines and to praying the rosary presupposes that these things interfere w/ our relationship with the Lord. they do not. God used mary to bring His Son into the world, and she willingly handed him over to be crucified for our salvation. b/c her will is so perfectly united to his, she cannot help but draw all people who come near to her to her Son.
