Who is this person on AIM? She's apparently from Phatmass and I wanted to make sure. Thanks.

Posted

She told me last year she browsed phatmass but wasn't actually a member. She always asks for help on her homework.....I finally blocked her.

Posted

I think I'm going to do the same because she's suspicious. Thanks. (What did she tell you her name was?)

Posted

No she didn't tell me.

I think some other phatmassers have blocked her too.

Posted

Heh, I've had her blocked for about a year or so. If she spent as much time at the library or asking teachers for help, she'd have no need to IM Phatmassers.

I blocked her, then unblocked her after a while... haven't heard from her since... and she is persistant too...

Yeah, she's not a phatmasser. I blocked her, too. :(

Yeah I finally blocked her. She wanted homework help. Constantly. I don't want to speak ill of her but I would not help her. I think that she is just trying to get answers.

Well I was worried that homework help wasn't what she wanted at all, because why would she ask people who she didn't even know the ages or academic capabilities of at ALL? That's just crazy. Anyway, yeah, thanks for the info.

I never blocked her, I think it is my place to act in the charity of Christ and listen to what others have to say or need, and try to meet those needs unless they are illegal or immoral.

Today she asked me why is it easier to do 8*5 rather than 5*8 I told her there was no definitive answer, except you could argue that with the ascotiative property that no matter what you will get the same answer. I also told her that later on it would be more important when you do several numbers such as 180*25, it'd be less work showing to do it that way rather than 25*180.

Don't know if it is right, but I tried to helpl.

It's also good to discern what you think you need to do, and for most of us, that was to block her. Maybe for you it was better not to, but please don't give us a guilt trip because it's probably not the same for everyone.

I just had shell-shocked flashbacks to middle school math class.

I hate math with a passion.

Thanks for the memories.

It is completely reasonable and even morally advisable to block such a person who thrives on annoying others, not to mention trying to have others do her homework for her. We are not bound to sit there and take it and, in fact, it could get the point across to stop bugging us if we do block, and therefore, she may have a chance for conversion from the small but annoying sin of bugging people constantly.

I am glad you feel that way, that you are able to help her. It just got too weird for me, she was asking things about my kids, where we live, etc. I tried not to give her answers to her school problems but to show her how to deduce the answer on her own. All she wanted from me was the answer, "pick A, B, or C." And while I am willing to give certain details to people I know well from phatmass, she was a complete stranger who wasn't even willing to JOIN PM. I encouraged her to do so and she wouldn't. In fact, when she first messaged me I thought it was a PMer pranking me! I felt vvery uncomfortable with the whole thing, so after a couple weeks I decided it would be best to block her.

Ah yes...I remember her. I tolerated her for quite a while, but once I found out that it was happening to others on pm too, I just blocked her.

There is only one person I have blocked and that was a pmer, who was hindering my vocation to the Legion of Christ.

Something is odd about doing simple multiplication like that for three years. Three years ago she asked me about the same stuff. That is way phishy.
