Jaime Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Here's the response that I always get "I don't think I want a caricature artist in the delivery room with me" When you go see a caricature artist at the mall or fair, they always have pictures of celebrities and a lot of them are dead. Its not like Prince and Madonna tour through caricature schools so the students can practice. All you have to do is bring pictures of the doc, the husband, you and the baby to some artist!!

homeschoolmom Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 I never understood videos either. I have never watched my wedding video (and I looked pretty wonderful that day) but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't really want to see myself at my not so wonderful... A nice family photo when everyone is cleaned up is nice. I also wouldn't let them videotape my splenectomy.
Sojourner Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 I have a video of the time I went skydiving which I watch from time to time, usually with friends who don't believe I did it. It's pretty funny.
Jaime Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 I am planning on using my MRI for my next Christmas card.

Sojourner Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 I meant whenever you get around to doing it put me on the list.

She's going to do it again when she can afford to. I'm not at all surprised. She's a daredevil.

Although I really want to go white-water rafting.
prose Posted September 9, 2005 Author Posted September 9, 2005 I would love a caricature picture... Great plan!! Maybe give the doctor a baseball glove...

IcePrincessKRS Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005
It's a good sign, though! Someone's gettin' ready! : I babies...can't wait to have some of my own with my future wife someday.
Most women begin having Braxton Hicks much earlier on, like in the second trimester. You don't feel like they are helping except MAYBE at the very end. They're really just irksome. (Your stomach area hardens---sometimes the whole area, sometimes just part---and is uncomfortable, and sometimes it can hurt.) BH don't mean that the baby is coming soon, though. lol
Sorry I was doing important corporate thingies... When my first nephew was born. He was born at 2:33 AM. I lived only 6 minutes from the hospital so I rushed over. Prior to getting there, I stopped at an all night grocery store and picked up flowers, balloons and just for giggles, doughnuts. When I arrived, my nephew was getting his first meal so I stayed outside the room and sent the gifts in with the nurse. After a few minutes, they wheeled out the balogna loaf that would be my godson and I went in. The balloons were floating randomly in the corner, the flowers were literally thrown on the floor, My sister was double fisting the doughnuts into her mouth. Apparently 28 hours of labor can make someone hungry. The hospital kitchen doesn't open until 6:00 AM so if you end up having a baby in the wee hours Bring doughnuts.
My Midwives make us breakfast afterwards. : (I don't deliver at home, I go to a birth center.) And they let me eat and drink during labor if I want to, but my labors are so fast I really only have time to drink. haha
prose Posted September 9, 2005 Author Posted September 9, 2005 Must be nice!! I hope this labor is a quicker one (but I still have enough time for an epidural!!!)
IcePrincessKRS Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 It was nice the first time, kinda scary the second time. I was afraid I wouldn't make it there. I recommend 5 hours. 2 is way too short, especially when you have a 45 minute drive ahead of you. I keep saying my third (whenever that happens) will end up a home birth. I hope it all goes faster and smoothly for you this time around! I'll be praying for you, for sure!
IcePrincessKRS Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 oh, duh, did you mean it must be nice that they let me eat/feed me? lol Yeah, it is, because I never think to bring anything to snack on. lol Other than the possibility of throwing up there is no reason why they should prevent you from eating, and some doctors actually like it if you get sick because, apparently, it actually helps things along.
prose Posted September 9, 2005 Author Posted September 9, 2005 I will tell the baby that she needs to take at least 5 hours, but no more than 7
