Guest Sophie Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Which of these four ways of knowing the truth are "reliable", for lack of a better word? Or can you say something about each? And about which ones are used to come to the conclusion that belief in God is the Truth? *The Truth you feel *The Truth you are told *The Truth you reach through reason *The Truth you perceive Thanks for your answers so far.
Pio Nono Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 JMJ 9/11 - Twenty-fourth Sunday Sophie, Man's reason is his way of arriving at solid Truth. Evidence for truth can be found through the other three media which you describe (even convicting evidence), but ultimately it must be examined as reasonable or unreasonable. Let us note that the premise "God said so" aids one in the rational investigation of religion. For instance, it is not unreasonable to believe that God is three Persons acting through one Nature because, well, God said so. Hope this helps. Yours, Pio Nono
