zabbazooey Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 I've finally decided to quit smoking. I've done it since I was 13, but I've seen what it's done to my family and I'm going to be done with it! I'd appreciate your prayers, as it is not easy to quit. Two of my family members have died because of smoking (lung cancer and emphysema) and my dad has just suffered a heart attack from smoking & excessive stress. So here goes! :
All For Jesus Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Good decision!- I will definately say a prayer for you.
sweetpea316 Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Lots of prayers are coming your way from me! I can't imagine how hard that must be, but I'm proud of you for doing it! God bless
prose Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 I quit smokign recently. I know you will get TONNES of advice, but what worked best for me was drinking water ALL THE TIME.. I was constantly drinking water. And it helped that I got pregnant too, but I think that may not work for you
Fides_et_Ratio Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Drinking water (lots of it) and sometimes chewing gum (though that can turn into a bad habit...) are great helps according to my dad (he quit when we started SCUBA diving). My dad also started eating a lot of hard candy (jolly ranchers, etc.) but I wouldn't recommend that cuz he got a few cavities!
White Knight Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Good Choice. smoking aint cool. Your in my prayers.
Old_Joe Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 awwww.... prayers! A girl as pretty as you shouldn't be smoking. It doesn't make sense. I'm not trying to say anything offensive or sarcastic. I just feel that smoking is unattractive. That shouldn't be your main reason. We are stewards of the temples of the Holy Spirit (our bodies) and need to take good care of them.
Totus Tuus Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 (edited) PRAYERS!! My mom smoked from when she was 11-30. She went through major withdrawal when she quit, but now she's been smoke-free for almost ten years and she is so glad. I remember how hard it was for her, so hang in there and PERSEVERE! God bless! You scrubbed and rubbed, it has holes in it, looks really gross, little pieces are shredding off. THAT is what your lungs look like when you smoke.
littleflower+JMJ Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 keep it up! you can do it!! just always keep in mind how your helping yourself out by staying healthy. its going to be hard but worth it!!!!
morostheos Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 I will definitely pray for you!!! That is so GREAT!! :
Old_Joe Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 exercise helps, I'm told. My Bro-in-law just recently had mild heart attack. It was because of his eating habits and stress. He said that every time that he felt stressed out he'd go to the gym or take a walk.
