Thy Geekdom Come Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005
Finally, on a more humorous note; a friend of mine confronted this guy who told him also that all Catholics were going to hell. He told the pastor at our Newman Center (Fr. Matya) about it. Well, if that's the case, we're just going to have one hell of a party then. That's what he said. At least we'll be in good company. Mother Teresa will be there, JPII will be there, as will every pope who has ever lived. Micah can vouch, Fr. Matya knows how to throw a party.
Yeah, it'll be a big Catholic party in hell...goodness, even Jesus would have to come, wouldn't He?

It's going to rock! Kinda like what St. Thomas More once said, "You condemn me to Hell for treason, but will you join me out of fellowship?" P.S. You should post this on the Prayer Request board Edited September 14, 2005 by Old_Joe

Extra ecclesiam nulla salus Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 its called tradition: we actually do "worship Mary" -- but not with the sort of worship that is due to God alone (latria) which has become the modern Protestant sense of the word (this is why many Catholics, using this modern definition, insist we don't "worship Mary"; we most definitely don't believe she is God! We do not "worship Mary" in any sense that Protestants accuse us of, i.e., we don't "worship Mary" in the modern, Protestant sense of the word!). "To worship" does not necessarily mean treating someone or something as God. The British call their magistrates and mayors "Your Worship," and I don't think any of them mistakenly consider Mayor So-and-So to be the Father Almighty. The point for Protestants reading this is this: if you come across a traditional Catholic text referring to "Mary worship" in a good light, don't freak out. so we actually do worship mary.

Extra ecclesiam nulla salus Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 im not going to compromise truth for protestants. sorry. Their defenition is wrong. i will tell them that we worship mary but that their defenition of worship is different that ours and that we do not place her as god. But i will not say that we do not worship mary.
