airline miles a scam?

I know, it's very sad. I like Northwest. I've almost always had good experiences with them. I got about $2000 in vouchers from them because I flew a few weeks after Sept. 11 and had a couple of overnight delays (had to spend the night in a hellhole in Detroit ... I should've gotten more than $300 for that one). One of the delays was really fun, though. There were 12 of us who got bumped in Memphis, and we ended up all eating dinner at the hotel restaurant at like 9 p.m. We all sat together, somebody bought wine, and we ended up talking for three hours or so. It was a great night.
