Thy Geekdom Come Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Anyone ever try your hardest on a school or work project, think you did really well, and then have a superior just tear it to shreds without even a hint of appreciation for your work of for what you *did* do well?
Nicole8223 Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Yep...chalk it up to a lesson in humility...

I was actually .
homeschoolmom Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Yeah, that stinks. I once had to write an essay test for my 20th Century Spain class in college. The class and the test were in Spanish. I got an A- on the test (which I was happy about), but the one and only comment the teacher wrote was (in Spanish), "Try to write a little better." I still have that test...

It's humbling, for sure, but it's gotten much easier over the years to take criticism. Don't take it personally. Sometimes it really helps to find out that someone else doesn't understand what you mean ... that way you can better craft your writing in the future. Just remember they're not criticizing you, just something you did.
Thy Geekdom Come Posted September 15, 2005 Author Posted September 15, 2005 I ripped it up...it's in the trash.

morostheos Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 that means youre ahead of the game! Maybe he critcized you harshly because you show promise and he wants to get you ready for grad school! (looking for the positive)
CatholicCid Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 if given the chance, explain your points... not really to get any grade improvements, but more so they can see where you were coming from and headed... might make next essay a little easier for them to understand
Maester Supremo Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Or then again Raph, maybe you just not as good writer as you think you are.
Old_Joe Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Yes. It's gets worse when you start to believe it yourself.
