Reverend Corey
Assistant Principal
High School
his adress

Dear Fr. Corey,

On Friday, September 9, 2005, High School held its “Freshman Social”, the purpose of which was for the Freshman to socialize with each other, as the name suggests. Upon entering the cafeteria that evening, I was greeted with blaring “gangsta” rap music. However, I cannot say that is all that prompted me to write this letter. As the evening progressed, everyone, including myself, shifted away from the kitchen and into the center of the room. It was at this point when a large pit/circle of people dancing formed in front of me and a few of my friends (who were sitting at the back wall). Herein lies the reason of my writing this letter. Simply put, the “dancing” was unacceptable, especially in a Catholic school. Without going into details, it was very, very physical and definitely not pure or chaste. I was disgusted and appalled at what I witnessed, and even more so because of the fact that this was going on literally feet away from Jesus Christ himself. The older student council members weren’t much better. There was at least one older girl trying to get various freshmen (including my friends and I) to “dance” with her. In the midst of all this, I did not see one adult chaperone anywhere except near the door and kitchen, away from all of this behavior. For the remainder of the night I stayed seated where I had been, trying not to look at the horrors unfolding in front of me. As I was walking out the door, the D.J. began playing the song “I Like Big Butts”. I think the title of the song conveys its message quite well.
I would like to meet with you sometime to discuss this and, more importantly, how we can prevent this from happening again. I think the Freshman Social is a great idea to welcome the freshman and make them part of the school family, but if that is any indicator of what the Immaculate family means or stands for, then I’d rather not be a part of it. I am free to meet with you on E period on Monday and Tuesday, as well as G period on Friday. I also stay after school Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please feel free to Email me at my address mentioned above. For now, I would like to keep this matter a bit under wraps.
Thank you.
Sincerely,

Your absolute refusal to apply your mind to anything valuable is demonstrated rather well here.

Sexual sins, with the exception of unfaithfulness, are a joke. I don't care what religion you choose to believe. I'm right here.

Because sexual "sins" hurt nobody and are a senseless form of control.

Sexaul sins hurt nobody.

How about most pre marital relationships that are sexual end in bitter fighting. How about getting STD's. How about getting pregnant and then being ditched by your boyfreind. And those are just the obvious ones. How about guys use girls under the lie that they "love" them jsut to get sexual pleasure from them- that they see them as nothing more than objects to be used and then disgaurded. How about when your 15 year old daughter comes home and tells you that shes pregnant. None of that hurts ANYBODY? and if your gonna be real ignorant and say no then how about God? you dont think it hurts him?

EENS, seriously, let it go. It's not worth the debate. Even if you could win it would be a hollow victory. Cast not pearls before swine ;)

Very nice letter, Curtins.

I would probably have been more graphic in the details, but then I am not very tactful at times.

I hope someone pays attention.

i can't believe you are only a freshman in high school. that letter was amazing. i know college students who couldn't have articulated their point as well as you did.

i wish you the best in your conversation with father.
