Day 2
Rev. 12

[7] Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought,
[8] but they were defeated and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.
[9] And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world -- he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
[10] And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.
You should be aware that the word "angel" denotes a function rather than a nature. Those holy spirits of heaven have indeed always been spirits. They can only be called angels when they deliver some message. Moreover, those who deliver messages of lesser importance are called angels; and those who proclaim messages of supreme importance are called archangels.
Whenever some act of wondrous power must be performed, Michael is sent, so that his action and his name may make it clear that no one can do what God does by his superior power.

I always pray the St. Michael prayer before I get out of my bed...
There are many tempations during the day, but I'm glad to know that St. Micheal will always be there...

thats a great habit to have. i also try to do what St Josemaria encourages--every morning at the heroic moment of waking up say "Serviam!" - "I will serve you, God!"--as St Michael did in contrast to satan's "i will not serve".

St. Michael the Archangel, I look to you while I look to Christ. You are, in Him, the defender of God's people. You are, in Him, the minister of God's justice. You are, in Him, the bane of every demon of hell. Hear the cry of God's people, the sore persecuted, those oppressed by Satan, that you may come, bearing the gift of the Holy Spirit. Lift my praise before the throne of God, where you minister forever and ever. Amen
