Aloysius Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 I wonder if there are any phatmassers that are dead other than the seminarians from Texas, may they rest in peace.
Carrie Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Hmmm, if I died I wouldn't have anyone to post about it. Well, if you don't see me around for awhile and I've given you no notice of an extended leave...
Carrie Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005
This thread is really a downer...
Yeah, I have to agree.
Theoketos Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 O come on. Death is not a downer. (At least it is ment to be an upper (so downer would be implying that Hell is always involved) )What is a downer is the pitty party concerning whether we will be honored after death. Personally, I can hardly wait to go home. And I would not mind if my funeral was small, as long as I had some one to help pray me out of purgatory. And I know that there are at least a few people that will.
StatingTheObvious Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005
Would anyone here say or think anything about me? If so, what would it be?
Does it really matter? Just about everyone is forgotten soon after their death. Your kids may think of you occasionally a few years after your dead, the grand kids won't last as long. Besides, everyone has their opinion. What do you think about yourself now? Though I'm not claiming a religious denomination here, I certainly believe there is most likely a spritual existence to us as well. Might as well live well spiritually just in case... but our spiritual life (if we have one after death) isn't dependent on what people think of us here in the physical world.

I posted a similar thread elsewhere and thought, eh, why not post this here and see what happens. This is why the original thread.

hmm my first reaction is why are you asking this question :eh:
Probably some of the same self-interest that makes me want to know things like what people think of me, the same reason I've asked elsewhere what kind of impression I give, stuff like that, and then I was looking at this article which I did not read that well but is called What will people say about you? by Bryan Kemper on a Catholic website and I was thinking about what would be left behind from my life? That got me thinking, granted I've not always spent as much time here as other times, but I've spent more time here than on any other website and I've certainly chatted a bit with people here. So while online is in some ways easier than living out life as perhaps I should in real life excepting of course the ease vanishing online, what in this snapshop of my life would be left? In as much as as been expressed on this site and in chatting with people here, have I lived out my life as I ought? I think that some of the answer can be found in the impact that we have on people's lives. If I just asked that though, if people reply, it might be more warm fuzzies than really what my life would have left. Didn't seem like there would be much harm in asking.
