Sojourner Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 So I'm sitting in my living room, laptop on my lap, and all of a sudden I start hearing banging noises coming from the other side of the house. (I live in a duplex). No one is living there now, so there should be no noise AT ALL coming from there. After I assured myself that there were indeed rhythmic noises coming from next door, I thought to myself, "Is someone over there stealing all the new appliances?" So I decided to go check. Lo and behold ... it was my landlord. Whew! He renovated our half of the duplex earlier this year, and has been here on and off working on the other side, and apparently randomly decided to come here from Ohio on a Tuesday night. My heart has now returned to its normal healthy rate.

That's not a nice thing to do to a woman at home alone.

They prayed with us when we signed the lease and have been SO GOOD to us the whole time, taking care of each of our problems in a very timely fashion. Other places I've lived, I've waited months for repairs to be made, if they're ever made. I really love my landlords now.

If I ever become a professor here, I'm going to buy a bunch of houses for students to use and be a nice landlord.
homeschoolmom Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 I had a landlord who contracted some painting to be done on the outside of our house (in college)... And they started scraping under my window at 6 AM!!! We didn't even have any warning. And my bed was right under the window... Um... Good morning??? What in the heck are you doing???
Sojourner Posted September 21, 2005 Author Posted September 21, 2005 When I lived in Gas City (yes, that's the name of a real place) my landlord once decided to replace my working refrigerator with a new one the week I had mono. I was home sick, hardly able to talk or move, and they made me get up, empty out my entire refrigerator, and move stuff in my apartment so they could move the old one out and put the new one in. If I'd been well, I'd have been livid. As it was, I just went back to bed.
Sojourner Posted September 21, 2005 Author Posted September 21, 2005 True, true. Of course, home ownership means you have to pay for all the repairs yourself, or learn how to be handy. Maybe in a few years ...

Sojourner Posted September 21, 2005 Author Posted September 21, 2005 We have a town like that -- Peru -- which the natives pronounce "pee-roo." We Hoosiers mispronounce lots of place names.
Thy Geekdom Come Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 On the way to Birgitta's house, you pass the town of Kickapoo...hehehe...
Sojourner Posted September 21, 2005 Author Posted September 21, 2005 I like Kissimee, Fla. And I've always wanted to live in Wallawalla, Wash., or anywhere in Saskatchewan for a few months just to have that as my address.
missionseeker Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Here we have the Pea river. It runs into the Yellow river. In Alabama there's also Cowpens Choccolocco Chunennegee Chepultepec Crudup and Coffee County, Coffeville, Coffee Srings, and Coffeeville Landings. Bunches of places w/Indian names
